01-04 Rubicon air box hose and wire coming out of ES shifter…where does it go?

Just tore down this 01-04 Rubicon to put a new wiring harness on it. Rats had gnawed several of the wires and Powersportsnation had a used complete harness for $25 shipped, so I just replaced the harness.

Someone in the past had done some interesting mods to the machine, so I have a couple of loose ends to tie up before I’m done with it.

There is a hose coming out of the middle of the air box. The crankcase vent is hooked up, but I’m not sure where this other hose goes. It is in the pic between the crankcase vent line and the muffler.

There is also a wire coming out of the ES shifter. It isn’t hooked up to anything, so I’m not sure what it’s for. The machine shifted fine in auto mode before I tore into it, but I didn’t check ES mode, but since the wire wasn’t hooked up I wondered if this could have been some temporary fix for a problem that was later properly fixed. Any reason to have a wire spliced into the ES shifter buttons?
