Why did you buy a 550?

I haven’t been here for very long, and still haven’t even ridden my new to me 550 yet. (currently deployed) I do however spend alot of times going back and reading through alot of older posts, and do as much research as I can.
I thought it would be a good topic to find out why other 550 owners bought that particular bike. its easy to find people saying it was a waste of money, or that "shoulda bought a 700, the extra money that it costs is minimal".. Well I’m not interested in responses from these people, because I don’t have a disposable budget.

So I’ll start. I didn’t buy one, I bought 2. One for me and one for my wife (I got red, she got blue). Both bikes had less then 50 hrs on them, and got them from a couple that just decided that they would have more fun on a sxs…. At first I was hesitant, but then thought, well even the biggest fourwheeler I have ever had was a rubicon (500) and it did everything that I needed it to. Even still I preferred my 450 foremans (one of witch I ran 29.5 outlaw 2’s with a 2 inch lift and everything else was stock, and I had not troubles with even though everyone else said I couldn’t do it) over that.
I am comfortable with the engine size and have no doubt that it will do what I want/ need it to do.
I feel I got a great price on them at $4500 a piece. and they are the EPS models (2014’s even). I will be running 28’s and already have plans for some simple clutch mods, but it is nice knowing that once I kill the 550, the upgrade to a 700 is super simple, and cost effective.

So. What drove you to buy a 550?
