why did they get away from metal skid plates

Don’t tell me weight saving since Polaris has the heaviest quads in the industry, a few extra pounds wouldn’t mean shit….gotta be profit driven and screw you end user mentality?

We don’t have any rocky trails around here, just dirt trails and when we boondock running over downed tree/stumps, etc…but a park we rode at Friday they had a large section they had dump trucks dump loads of rocks/boulders to transverse…extremely fun stuff IMO. After the first line I took through there I went back around for another line and what do I see…the equivilant of a cheese grater that left a lot of my under framed skid plate curled up all over the rocks..I stood there looking at the trail of plastic I’d left and literally shook my head and laughed at the stupidity of modern engineering.

Wish they’d go back to utilizing strength in area’s that need it (under frame) for example…just stupid using plastic. I know I’ve dug sticks/branches from inside the frame (engine/tranny) area that shoulda never been able to get up in there in the first place, and to think I’d either have to buy some sheets of aluminum and fabricate a set, or take it up the ass for the $600-1000 to buy a kit is ridiculous…makers used to build strong quads (metal belly’s, metal CV guards)…why would they change that??
