I currently own a Polaris sportsman 500, I bought it new in 2007. Its been a good quad with a few exceptions. Electronic Control Module went out $500.00 to replace . Plastic melted on side with exhaust . Installed heat shield from Polaris approx. $200.00. seems to have solved problem. This quad is a beast, it just doesn’t get stuck. Going down hill is another story. The engine brake causes the back wheels to drag which is dangerous if you don’t know how to control it. Consequently, I don’t let other people ride it on hills. All these problems are well known to Polaris riders.
I am considering a new Polaris with Automatic descent control. My concern is that I am hearing horror stories about the new atv’s. Polaris doesn’t seem to stand behind it’s products: they certainly didn’t help me. The jap bikes seem to have a lot fewer problems. I’ve owned two Honda’s, flawless. I am also considering a Can Am.
Thanx Tom
