I am working on a rincon 680 that has some steering "freeplay" Its a 2006 Rincon, with 1500 miles. The tie rod ends and ball joints are tight…..no movement at all. There is no movement in the steering shaft bushings. The only place I see excess play in where the bottom of the shaft slides into the steering sector, pitman arm or whatever its called. Both pieces are splined, with no visible wear/damage to the eye.
Assuming that the shaft is hardened steel, I’m thinking that the steering sector is the culprit. When the nut holding the sector in place was removed, the sector almost fell off the end of the shaft. Any thoughts? Feedback on this issue will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
