Greetings from New Brunswick, Canada! I’ll briefly bring y’all up to date. I bought my 2005 Sportsman 600 new and enjoyed every minute of every ride right up ’til the engine death after the Flood of 2012. I was devastated to loose such a faithful ride and missed her dearly! I considered a rebuild but kept putting it off, hoping to find a replacement engine while quietly storing her in my garage. Then a month ago, almost 3 years later, there was an ad on Kijiji that caught my eye- parting out an ’03 Sportsman 700! I jumped on that, let me tell ya!
I took quite a gamble as the 700 wasn’t running and had sat for a while with very little compression and rust in places you don’t want it to be. There were times during the rescue-swap that I really wondered what I’d gotten myself into and if I was chasing false hopes!! The only thing I didn’t do was give up and after a lot of TLC I was ready to hit the start button. Well… as soon as it got fuel, it fired right up, no lifter noise, no bearing noise, just sat there and idled away!:lmao:
After a few oil changes and some fine tuning I got to go for my first ride after nearly 3 years of waiting… it wasn’t ’til I got back that I realized that the water from my eyes wasn’t from the wind:biglaugh:
