Newb to ATV’s and Polaris from MN

Hello all! New guy from Central MN here. I’m 28, married with 2 kids. I’m a hobbyist gearhead, and big snowmobiler (albeit always been a Cat guy). I picked up a ’94 400L, 2 smoke, liquid, 4×4, just before Christmas last year. It’s my first ATV and first Polaris for that matter. Paid $200 for it through one of my dad’s friends. The guy whom owned it passed away some time ago, mid-repair of the machine. I got it as a almost complete roller. All I was told was that it was supposed to have run and drove, but something was "wrong with the drivetrain". Well, I buttoned it back up, kinda reverse engineering the reassembly in the process to figure it all out. Got it running, and it drove. Only problem was the trans. It would grind and pop out in reverse if it had any significant load. Found out the linkages were out of adjustment. All was well then. I then cleaned and rebuilt the carb, flushed all fluids (engine balancer, front hubs, transmission, etc.) greased the zerks, lubed the chain and all has been well for the most part. The internet (forums like this one) and service manual downloads have been a big help and getting this thing back together. The only other parts I’ve replaced have been the battery (with a new AGM battery), starter and drive, fuel shutoff, and cooling fan. My kids love going for rides around the yard, albeit slowly as they’re only 4 and 3 years old. I still need to get some helmets for them too if I’m ever going to take it out of low range, haha. The body’s a little rough, but nothing is broken and everything works now, save for the primary clutch is going out. I’ll have to post the issue there in another sub forum, and I’ll have to get some pics too! Hope to learn from here and maybe contribute here and there in the future. Have a good day!
