Many know we are mainly a suspension performance company. Once I left active duty service in the marine corps, I began developing and engineering parts for helicopters, then onto my real current path after 35 yrs. of racing. We as a race team with the new xp1000 began to suffer DNF’s from belt breakage and issues throughout all of 2014 season. Like others we chased the problem, different clutches and tuning, different belts, adding different fans, all to no fix. Finally after having the ability to work with the right people in testing other clutch products, we found the cause.
Once We realized the new design of the inner cover, mainly the placement of the exhaust port outlet, was the factor, we began testing materials, shapes, even fitting a handmade xp900 cover on the 1000 with a different exhaust port location. So, I made a call to mark at Desert Molding Company, with his vast knowledge and expertise of materials, and we began to work together to help GForce bring a fix to the utv market.
You ask why is it the inner cover exhaust port. When your belt driven system is under throttle, extreme when we are wide open throttle, we all know the belt pulls up in the primary and down into the secondary, but did you know that when we let off the throttle, the belt (already hot and more pliable, snaps like a noodle as the belt rises back to the top of the secondary. This snapping action causes the belt to hit inside the exhaust duct and catch the edge of the duct if you are back on the throttle quickly, here’s our belt damage and friction. which I will explain in pics below.
As far as testing data, we havnt damaged or broken any belts since testing began 6 months ago. Now the drivers can drive the car in any manor and not worry about belt issues. The last 3 races were using the same Gates belt on one car and the 14 stock oem belt on the other car, all consisting of XC, TT, and GP style events totaling 150 hard race miles. 3 weeks ago, the product was tested by 2 Worcs series pro utv drivers who put 2.5 hrs of race test driving in the CA sand and heat with no issues of damage or belt fade during driving. During testing we found not only can we help the belt from damage, but we can also help lower the internal belt temp. by a average of 15-30 degrees from less friction. Addition of a fan decreases temps even way further at this point.

This product does include a Limited lifetime warranty and we do recommend a new belt be used with the initial install, since we have no clue as to the current state of your belt. We also recommend your clutch system be properly checked for alignment.
