The MXT100 worked well for our family members on the trip. They had it mounted up high on the roof above the driver. They said it was plenty loud even when cruising down the trial at average trail speed. Our friends that joined us had issues with their MXT100. They had it mounted to the roof also, but their roof is a Protopbox. It was mounted just below the head unit using Velcro. When we noticed the problem of not receiving, we started playing with other components to see if something was interfering. When we turned the stereo head unit off, the 2way radio worked fine. Obviously, there was interference… Problem solved.
So here’s my problem and question. We now have the same roof on our RZR. I need ideas or input on mounting the 2way. I’ll play with mounting it up high when I get it to make sure there’s no interference. If there is, my next option is to mount it below the dash or in the center cut out. I don’t particularly care to do that as I would rather it was high and dry as possible. If that’s how I had to do it, I could get an external speaker for the radio that could possibly be mounted high.
If anyone has come across this issue please give me some guidance. It sucked for our friends that they couldn’t use the radio on their high $$$ roof if they wanted to be able to use their 2-way. Thanks in advance!
