Mud Tires 350 Rancher

I bought this ’02 Rancher 350 ES about 6 months ago. The front of the engine was torn apart, the previous owner said it needed drive clutches. I replaced centrifugal and drive clutches just to be sure, and added the stiffer springs from Highlifter while I was in there. It took me a while to get the quad running the way it should with a new carb along the way and lots of TLC and new bolts from Honda.

Anyway I race quads in a local XC series, I have a Polaris Scrambler 850 for that purpose and that quad doesn’t see mud, or I should say, it only sees the mud that is on the race track, which isn’t too much.

I wanted a machine I could abuse a little bit in the mud holes, so I bought and repaired this Rancher.

So to the question. The previous owner said he thought it had a gear reduction. I don’t know, it does seem very low geared. Would I be better off with a 25" mud tire like the Interco Mamba Lite or Maxxis Mudzilla or something equivalent? Or maybe something a little taller, say a 27" ITP Mudlite or Maxxis Zilla, but not as aggressive?

I can’t see where the added 1" of ground clearance would do me that much good, but I’m new to the mud game so I really don’t know. I do know that I can’t put a tire that weights too much on it, I’m counting 30 pounds as the max weight for the 27" tire and 35 for the 25" tire. Is that about right?

Thanks for your replies.

25″ Zillas on Honda recon

Hey guys, as you may know I currently have some 22" gators on my recon (in my bio). Anyway I’ve had them for two years and I’m noticing tread wear a little. They can probably go another good year. Anyway I was thinking that I would take mud tires a little farther when the time comes. I am thinking of putting some 25" zillas on the back and some stock rancher tires and rims on the front. I’m pretty sure I don’t need a lift- I saw a newer recon with 25" zillas with no lift and it cleared the fenders by about an inch but I’m putting a lift anyway. Just asking for you guys input on this and if there’s something I’m not seeing that could be wrong with what im doing.

2016 Rancher 420 w/ IRS

I just ordered a new 2016 Rancher DCT IRS EPS and want to get a head start on accessorizing. First question is what are my wheel and tire size options?

I previously had a 2008 Rancher (SRA) that was stolen and I had 12" ITP SS212 wheels with 27×9.00-12 Maxxis Zilla fronts & 27×11.00-12 rears.

I plan on sticking with the Zilla’s but am not sure what tire sizes I can get away with. With the rear IRS, do I need to worry about the offset? Also, what is a good place to order from?

TRX350D – tire questions…..

On my ’88 the PO had installed 25" tall tires on the bike. It has 25-9.5X11’s on the front and 25"-12X11’s on the rear. From what I understand in my reading here and other places – the tires should be okay in terms of stress on the drive train as they are 1" taller than stock (recall stock front and rear is 24-9X11). As this bike full time 4WD, I am presuming the same dia tire at 25" is okay. The tires are the Super Swamper Vampires. I am thinking the tire is great for bad conditions, but not so good if I want to use the bike around the yard. What would be a better "overall" tire, for driving on everything from grassy lawns to dirt/rock roads to backwoods trails that do include muddy conditions…

big horns

im sold on the big horns because of the great reviews.i here they run really small so I will probably get 26s.my question is they don’t look like they would steer good could I get some one with experience with these tires.also whats the difference between 2.0
