I wanted to drop a post in this forum as it pertains to the Taylor Park area. The Forest Service is considering a proposal to re-open several trails in the Pitkin area that were closed in past years. This would be great as it would take some of the traffic off of popular trails in the area, and give people something new to ride! This is going to be a tough battle, but one we should be able to win!
We really need your support (positive, supportive comments). Please take 5 minutes out of your day and read about the project, then make a comment supporting the re-opening of these trails!
7th Annual RZRForums.net Ride – Taylor Park, Colorado – August 11-14, 2016
Frank "FJK" recently talked with Polaris Industries and locked in the dates and their attendance for 2016.
Frank is the organizer on behalf of RZRForums.net and I will be the host.
Registration will open January 1st, 2016
Polaris is leasing 8 acres of land located behind the RV Park and that will serve as the "Event Main Camp" area or "Dry Camp." There will be approximately 100 "dry" camp spots for RVs, vendors, and some tent camping spots. There is also thousands of acres of camping available in the National Forest.
The Main Camp is dry camping, there are no hook ups.
There will be official guided trail rides and sign-ups for Friday and Saturday. There are plenty of veterans riders that ride all week and you are welcome to join them.
There will be a night ride on Friday night.
There will be a catered dinner on Saturday.
There will be a raffle on Saturday night (Dry Camp) of items donated by vendors following the dinner.
I know it is a long way off but Cottonwood Pass will be closed for the 2017 summer to allow the widening and paving of the road on the west side of the pass. It may also be closed for part of 2018 if needed. For those of us who use it to get to Taylor Park from the east, we better make tracks this summer and enjoy the short cut. We will be taking the long way around through Gunnison in the future. The cost is estimated to be close to $27 million, which is about $2 million per-mile. My uncle worked on the east side when it was paved at a cost of $1 million per-mile.
If one were wanting to go to the RZR Forums sponsored event in 2016 at Taylor Park are there cabins close by that one can rent or is it just RV and tents? Is there a restroom and shower facility? I looked a the maps and the area is huge. Where does the event take place? Near the reservoir? I am sure I would have to book a cabin the day the event is announced or are they already going to be booked?
Anyone headed up to TP for the holiday weekend. I might be headed up with my 9 year old daughter and thought about seeing who else might be up there then
