After a full review of the stock intake system of the RZR XP 1000, Desert Molding Concepts (DMC) knew there were a few things that they wanted improve upon. Based on what DMC achieved with the RZR XP 900, they knew there would be some nice performance gains as well. DMC finally wrapped up the testing and tuning of their intake kit for the RZR XP 1000. After several configurations and changes they were satisfied with the final fit, finish, and durability of the design.
Filtration first!!! DMC partnered with R2C Performance to develop filters in the size and capacity they needed to support the intake kit. They are a highly durable filters that are not easily susceptible to damage like most gauze type filters. To service the filters you simply knock them out and blow them from the clean side out with compressed air. The R2C filter is a dry element that uses no oil that can migrate. There is no need to buy specific oils or cleaners, which will ultimately save you money in the long run. The synthetic material used for the R2C filter is designed to shed dust cake during use and factory testing has proven that they exceed the efficiency of the stock XP 1000 air filter. Outerwears are available as an option for wet conditions.

The Stage I kit comes complete with everything you will need for the in bed install. Twin flanged intake adapters produced from thin wall 6061 T-6 aircraft tubing for maximum air flow. DMC also provides a crank case breather adapter that installs in the stock intake tube of the plenum box and 5/8" hose extension that routes high on the frame to maintain the emission standards. To top off the kit, DMC used dual R2C dry filter elements to maintain the stock filtration capacity and to give superior filtration with ease of service.
*Kit includes: (2) R2C air filters, (2) Outerwears, (2) flange adapters, (1) crank case hose, (1) crank case intake adapter, and all appropriate hardware for assembly.

If you are not familiar with R2C, you soon will be. R2C has quietly been making in roads to the off road arena working directly with race teams to develop a highly efficient low restriction dry filter element that is nothing short of amazing. Not only is it amazing, it is also completely serviceable, so it could quite possibly be the last filter you ever buy for your ride. Results of testing the factory Polaris RZR XP 1000 air filter proved an efficiency of only 98%. In comparison, the R2C exceeds 99.97% this is even more efficient than what is currently being offered to the off road industry by any other company. The parent company to R2C has a 65 year history of severe duty filtration in several arenas including the military. This extensive knowledge is now being applied to motorsports with phenomenal result.

So, DMC added a large flange and clamping surface to the R2C filter for a positive connection to the intake tube.
Also the stock RZR XP 1000 air filter is completely dependent on the lid of the air box to keep it in place. The clamps for the air box lid are weak at best, can easily bend out of shape, and if not installed correctly can cause a potential problem (lose the lid and you lose the filter). So, DMC added a stud to the end of the filter much like you see on ATV’s to positively support the end of the filter and completely eliminate the possibility of the filter being dislodged (even if the lid is lost).
