I just ordered a new set of PRP GT/SE seats for my new XPT. Having been involved in off road competition for several years, I have owned a few different sets of suspension seats and all of them have had a slot for the 5th point of the harness to come through the seat bottom instead of around it. I’m very disappointed that my new seats, and it appears utv seats in general don’t have this provision. It is a serious safety issue in my mind. I know that the harness can be routed around the front of the seat and that it will still help some, but in reality it is not pulling at the correct angle and will not be as effective at keeping the lap portion of the harness properly positioned on the pelvis. Having a harness ride up onto the abdomen during a wreck can cause serious internal injuries. I’m just curious if I’m the only one that feels this way. Right now I am not sure what I can do to remedy my situation, I’m thinking about taking the seats to an upholstery shop to see if they can add the slot.
I have a 2015 xp1000 with ProArmor seats on stock bases. I need to replace the stock bases as they are cracked in multiple spots. But I also feel the seats are too low and they lean back to much. So I would like to find some bases that would correct this? So far all I come up with are lowering bases.
I did see a thread some where that the turner turbo model may have a different seat base, maybe it’s higher.
But I would hate to go back with plastic bases as they will eventually fail.
Any help or advice would be great. I would rather go with new prp seats but not in the budget yet.
