I am looking for people with experience with BLM rangers here in Ca. I have two small kids that ride in car seats in the back of our XP41K. I have been putting bicycle helmets on them up until now. We are going to Ocotillo Wells soon where I know the BLM presence is much greater. Will they disagree with my decision as a FATHER to protect my kids with a lightweight helmet opposed to a heavy dirt bike helmet that makes them bobble heads. Has anyone been cited or know people who have been?
I’ve been looking into a low profile cage for an XP 1000, an aftermarket one designed for racing. They look a million times better than the OEM top heavy design but I’m not gonna do it if it makes it less safe. I don’t exactly want to put the girlfriend into a coma if i hit a rut wrong at 60mph.
How safe are these things? Is there some guidelines as to how much room there should be between the top of a helmet and the roof?
What about convenience? Are they a pain to get in and out of for trail riding?
I would like to thank Kevin at Toys for Big Boys for a great experience. I bought a 2 seat 1000 cage , doors and seat belts from him. This was one of the best purchasing experiences I have had. His cage is excellent, with equally great workmanship. His pricing was beyond fair and turn around time was 2 weeks. I had a bumpy experience with my last cage purchase from a prior vendor on this Forum. No names!! So I was more than thrilled with Kevin and his company .
So… Fiance and I have a RZR, we are both really loving it, doing a little bit of trails, duning, Rock crawling and a little bit of everything.
I have had it on its side from rolling once, on its top once, then rolled back to side once rock crawling, then this weekend was doing the video below… So I want to beef up my ride and install and aftermarket cage, seems like a logical move right? Well, I’m having an issue getting her to believe that an aftermarket cage is stronger than a bolted together, thin walled, creaky OEM one.
We are both engineers… so data / numbers FEA analysis … something to help me prove to her that stock is weaker than a well made aftermarket cage, would be extremely helpful. I think she believes the welds are going to be the weak point. . . which a poorly welded one, yeah maybe, but some of the welds that are the rzr from the factory are a joke, and they hold
So, if someone has something … I really would appreciate the help!
thanks
Levon
I just received mine, going to install next weekend. Anyone else running the Hauser Racing brand cages ? I have to say, it’s craftsmanship is very good and the color (Orange) seems to match perfect.
