Looking to see what everyone’s opinions are for building up a xp1000 to handle techical rock crawling terrain. I’m thinking next spring we will be making a trip to Moab and I’d really like to not break anything while we are down there. Plus we have a few trails in Montana that are very technical and we slide across rocks all the time. My question is would a 3-5 inch lift, high clearance A arms, and bigger tires be sufficient enough to handle technical rocky terrain or would I still have to put skid plates and guards on the important parts? This will be our first time down to Moab and I’m looking forward to it, however I want to make sure our 1000 will be protected.
The wife and I are thinking of doing a trip out west to Moab and she’s concerned about the heat, my vacation runs the last week of June and the first week of July. Is it going to be a miserable trip with it being in mid summer. Any recommendations on hotels to stay at and some sights and trails to hit up would be appreciated. Thanks in advance
Been running the 32" roctanes on the rocks and they are ok at best. Time to try some softer compound competition tires and see how they do. Contacted BFG, and going to test some 35" KR2 softys, on some M21 MSA LOK’s for them. See how they do.
When Crawling the down turned exhaust tip stirs up a lot of dust (here in dry calif)
Has anyone put a 90 deg bend exhaust tip on there xp1k to fix this ? (pointing straight back instead of down)
Would it cause any problems ?
very annoying on 6 hour slow crawl (2 mph) on the rubicon (following a xp1k)
My buddy and I are not having good luck with Highlifter Outlaw DHT axles. I have broke one, had two bands come off and my buddy broke two, had them rebuilt and the boots tore on the first trip out.
What are you running?
I am thinking either Gorillas or Turner Eagle Level Two’s

Hey all, I ended up taking my 1000 rock crawling because my 900 was down. I didn’t know initially we were going to do such serious crawling, but I couldn’t back down. As a result both of my lower radius rods are a bit bent (barely visible to the naked eye).
I’d like to get the 1000 ready for rocks. I don’t think I’m going as extreme as the 900, as it still will be intended to be the rock buggy but I still want the 1000 to be better prepped next time. I’m going to order Factory UTV skids for the car like my 900 has (I really like them) but I also need to get radius rods?
What are the best set for crawling? A buddy of mine has the ZBros and it looks like their high-clearance lowers have a sort of flat bottom side that should slide better on rocks. Any other thoughts? Are there any radius rod setups that have a replaceable skid of any sort? It seems like a bolt-on delrin pad under the radius rod would be ideal.
