I picked up a 2013 scrambler 850 from a friend it has 800 miles on it, epi clutch, ripsaw tires, and a power commander. The epi clutch is way to rough for me so i ordered a QSC clutch kit from RVSperformance, great company btw. Also ordered some skid plates because i kept smacking mine. The steering stem where the EPS unit connects to the tie rods has play in the splines, i removed it and added two Grub screws, after one ride the play way back, is there any way to fix this issue?
Also should i be looking to replace the factory air filter with a more breathable one? i do not want a K+N will i need to re tune if i do so?

I have some fore/aft movement on my steering stem as a result of my upper bushing having some play. I’m planning on replacing the brand-new part with a poly bushing…I just need to know the diameter of the steering stem.
Would any of you please give that stem a quick measure for me, as I am away from my bike for another week?
The plastic by my exhaust gets hot when we are riding for a while. Anyone else has this problem? I purchased some heat protectant tape to put on the back side of the plastic piece to see if it will help
Ever since the 1K came out, my first thought was "will that dual exhaust fit my 850!?" Well the answer is yes. I put a stock 1k dual exhaust on my 13 850. Not the easiest project but not very hard either. Parts needed are obviously the 2 cans and cross-pipe, left side hanger with grommets, and the 1k CVT outlet pipe. There are a bunch of extra heat shields that the 1k gets that the 850 doesn’t have but I made my own out of reflective dynamat as the heat shields would have added well over $120 to the swap. Newer 850’s the swap is a little easier since the frame is already drilled for the second mount. On my 13 I had to drill a couple holes to mount the left hanger. You also need the 1K CVT outlet because the 850 outlet goes in exactly the path of the exhaust cross-pipe. Overall, I’m very happy with the swap. Sounds nice but don’t really feel anything on the butt dyno. Just love the way it looks.

Broke one of each on the right hand side. Not sure how long it was broken, but did not notice until inspection.
Well that is the least of my problems. Looks like motor moved around enough to crack the crank case, or knock a chip into it. I am leaking oil from some where around the drain plug and oil filter area. Oil filter is tight and does not appear to be leaking. Drain plug is also tight.
There is literally no room to look under the engine in this area with out pulling the engine. Any one have any idea what could be the culprit? I am really hoping the case isnt busted.
