Any updates on the newer 2015/16 Phoenix ATVs? Are people still experiencing electrical and transmission problems with 2015/16 models?
I wanted to buy my kids (2) "new" starter ATV’s for Christmas. I’ve looked at other brands but keep coming back to Polaris due to the automatic transmission. I’m hesitant buying an ATV with more cc or a clutch as a starter and the 90 and 110cc models are too small.
I’ve read about the problems with the Phoenix but nearly everything I’ve seen is with earlier year models. I realize these are starter ATVs and I will likely be buying another ATV for my kids in 2-3 years.
I’m sure if I ask the same question to a dealer he will say what he thinks I want to hear. Actual owners will provide better feedback.
Does anybody make an aftermarket muffler for a 2015 Polaris Phoenix 200? I have looked and looked and I have found nobody that shows a listing for it. If anybody has any answers, please let me know. Thanks!

So I am first time ATV owner. I just turned 32, I am 5’9 170lbs so not a big guy. I am not embarrasses to show up with a 200 either when everyone else has 570 but anyways, would I be to big for this ATV? I have a polaris card with a credit line and was considering buying a cheap ATV. I am looking for something I won’t have to fork out a big monthly payment to casually use. The phoenix is $3,500 basically new.
This would also be used by not just me but my kids 12 and 8 years of age. They will be learning to ride around my property. My buddies casually ride on weekends… maybe I will go that’s yet to be seen. I am not worried about going fast I would like to put that out there, maybe after I learn the ropes but right now that is in the back of my mind. Reliability is something I am worried about I don’t want to fix it every other month.
Any input would be nice rather negative or positive.
Ran great last season. Parked it and now it is dead. Battery has been maintained as well as a brand new battery tried. The neutral and when in reverse lights on the dash will light up. They will dim when I hit the starter button and that is it. No click or noise from the starter. Any ideas where I should look.
I am/was getting backfire on my Phoenix 200. I have a 2006, and supposedly that issue was with 2005 and newer, but it happens on mine when releasing throttle from WO… After reading about the ETC, I open the cap to the ETC, and put a shim in there so the contactors don’t touch, and BINGO it fixed the issue…. these has to be the cheapest fix I have ever done – 2 cents for a piece of plastic, and 5 minutes for labor. Engine purrs like a kitten, and no backfire on deceleration. I know this is a somewhat of a safety issue, because if the throttle breaks it’s suppose make the contactors touch each other causing the engine to go idle speed, but I’ll have to take the chance… I’d rather not having the backfire issue… can’t b too good for the engine.

I’m a bit mechanically challenged, I know just enough to be dangerous… anyways on my Phoenix 200 when I shift from R/N/F 2 things happen, and not all the time:
1. the N & R light are lit at the same time whether I am in N or R – doesn’t happen all the time, but better than 50%
2. when I shift from N to F or N to R I throttle, I get a clunk (engages the transmission after a second)… I have to feather the throttle to make the clutch engage, otherwise it will CLUNK into gear.
Question: do I just need to make an adjustment in my shift lever linkage?
note: I do notice that my rear tail light will flicker off and on when driving… not sure if that is tied into the issue, but may make me believe it could be an electrical issue?
I own a nice Polaris Magnum. I like to go out riding with friends and family but many of them, well none, have atv’s. I didn’t want the newbies or some of my friends riding the magnum, so I decided to get a 2006 Phoenix 200 for them to use.
Here are my reasons for buying a Phoenix, even though it is more geared to youth and they are adults:
1. Simple to operate.. no shifting.
2. Simple design… don’t have to worry about a lot of special components, ie.. front gear box, oil coolers, extra electrical.
3. fast enough to keep up but not too fast they "hopefully" don’t get hurt.
4. cheap enough so I’m not worried about them screwing something up.
Maybe my friends and family will buy their own, but for now I hope I did the right thing.
