I know its kind of late to be discussing this but for the past 4 or 5 years my quad has been knocking and leaking oil… I cannot see where the oil is leaking from but about 5 minutes after starting it I start smelling burnt oil. I check the oil before each ride and it is always at the full line…now about the knocking it is like a clicking/knocking what could cause this…I hope I didn’t wait to long for it to be something very serious. I use it in the winter plowing for the most part and rid it a few times in the summer just to start it and run it. Someone told me it could be the spark plug is to long but its the exact same as the original.. Please help me out..

I put a brand new battery in my quad today. This is the 3rd time i replaced it. I didn’t by a Polaris branded one this time. I purchased a Napa power sports battery at a third of the cost. I don’t know if this is normal but my atv seems to have a lot more power(didn’t do this with the others)…..what do you guys use for batteries in your machines?

Last season I removed the front hubs & spindle / strut assys. on a "new to me" 2001 Magnum 4 X 4 so that I could inspect the bearings for a piece of mind.
All parts were thoroughly cleaned & found to be good condition. The seal wear sleeves on the spindle / strut assys. were also in good condition(no grooves) so I just reassembled everything using new seals(hub & axle both). The seal lips were lubed & bearings set properly during installation. Hubs were re-filled with Polaris Demand Drive fluid to the 4 / 8 o’clock position.
I took it out for multiple rides last fall with no issues but after the first ride this season, I noticed a puddle of hub oil on floor beside the tire. The oil is clearly coming from the wheel hub seal – item # 3 shown below.
I haven’t disassembled yet to inspect what has caused the leak but I thought I’d drop a quick post to see if there are any special tricks on these front ends that I may have been missed during the assy. stage? BTW, I used parts from the dealer, which were CR seals IIRC?
Can someone tell me how to get my motor at tdc? My flywheel is a little rusty and i have no markings on it that i can see but on the timing gear i see two little dots.
Sometimes when I shift into reverse I hear it slipping or grinding and it will not engage. If i put it in foward it will go and usually will then shift into reverse ok. Sometimes I have to try 2-3 times though. What do I need to adjust there?
