Hatfield McCoy just announced starting spring 2016 full size jeeps, trucks, etc, will be permitted on the trails of Bearwallow. This trail system, currently only open to atvs, dirt bikes, and utvs, connects to the town of logan which provides direct trail access, food, lodging, and dining options!
Also, past and present military personnel can purchase a trail permit for the WV resident price of $26.50, regardless of state residency! This special pricing goes into effect in mid November when the 2016 trail permits go on sale.
We often stay in Logan for riding Hatfield Mccoy trails. We usually ride Ivy Branch Little Coal and Bear Wallow.
With Ivy and LC closing, Bear Wallow alone doesn’t have enough riding for more than a day.
Are there outlaw trails that can be gotten to from the BW system or easily riden to from the Logan area? I’m familiar with the miles and miles of Outlaw trails down in the Ashland area and as a matter of fact we just got back from there. But for short 2 day trips we liked to go to Logan.
I have BobT’s maps but there not showing many Outlaw Trails around the Logan area.
Is this possible? My Dad and I are thinking of doing a 6-700 miles saddlebag trip next summer in Maine. We have ridden VT and NH. We want to see what Maine has to offer.
Sad news for riders in West Virginia. Lets hope they can open some new trail systems to take their place. Loved riding here. Being from Ohio it was an easy drive down I-77 to get there.
Maybe East Lynn will open as a Hatfield McCoy trail…
Planning to go weekend of Oct 23. Wife, son, and myself. There’s so many options I’m starting to get confused. Basically, we want to get there Thursday afternoon and leave Sunday. Cheap basic room is all we need. Nothing fancy.
What do you guys recommend? We’ll be riding on our rzr 1000.
