New to the Forum

High everyone been riding Polaris Machines since 1999. Just got into RZR last year and have 3 of them since buy the 1st one.
2012 900xp with Gilbert 1K front diff kit, Special Carries complete suspension upgrades, shocks redone by Shock Therapy, custom cage and so on.
2012 RZR 800 that will be made into a mud machine
2015 RZR 900s that’s mostly stock other than bumpers, roof and lower doors.

The logical choice

I have been shopping for a Polaris ATV/UTV for several weeks now while waiting for some money to show up…I need something that will load in the box of my pickup and still easily allow me to tow a travel trailer…I had finally decided on a mid size Ranger but am kind of leery about only having one inch clearance per side when loading…I had almost decided to go with a Sportsman when I realized the RZR Trail 570 will be a better choice…I just hope my dealer can get me a 2015 Base Model as that is right at the limit of what I will spend…I will keep you posted…glad this forum is here

New guy Looking to learn and share

Hi guys kinda new here. bought a dream machine about a year ago (’12 xp 900 with 2400 miles now) Just completed first full service my self on it. Its just way to expensive to take it in. Decided to go with rotella 5w40 full syn after reading a lot of post on the matter. strongly considering adding a viper max or elite winch to the tool bag(open to suggestions) as well as surfing pics and upgrade options. I see a lot of rides with out skid plates or arm guards but plenty of other options. What are the pros and cons of arm guards and skid plates? PS love to do my own wrenching when possibly and financially
possible. looking forward to learning and sharing.

New/Old Member from Kansas

Hi! I’m a new/old member from Kansas, just getting back into the off-road riding lifestyle. I sold my quads a few years back, but couldn’t stay away. I recently purchased a 2009 RZR S from a friend, and man, am I glad I did. These things are definitely the way to travel off road. I had ridden in a 50" RZR a few years ago, but didn’t like the way that it rode. My ’09 S is worlds better than the old 50". I spend most of my free time riding trails in Colorado with my family and am excited to be part of this recreation again. There is tons of great information on this forum and I have gleaned a lot of knowledge about my RZR before I bought it. I don’t usually like to sign up to forums (bad experience on another Polaris forum) but after lurking on here since January and speaking with some friends of mine who are forum members, I decided to sign up. I look forward to be able to ask a lot of questions and as I gain experience, be able to contribute.
Thank you!

I actually joined last fall but just now digging into the forums. I bought a used 2010 RZR 4 800 last fall and have been having a blast on it. Winter time is perfect because there are a number of trails within 10-15 minutes of home. I’m still trying to figure out where to go in the summer months other than 2 hours away up into the white mountains. Any recommendations?

The past couple of days I decided to do the annual maintenance and change out all the oil, spark plugs, belt (this is what brought on the desire to do all of this, the belt was slipping) and lube everything, the forums were a huge help. I’m by no means a mechanic but I do feel fairly competent when it comes to basic servicing and repairs. Well, $250, 10 hours and 1600 mg of ibuprofen later everything is replaced except for the front gearcase (stripped the fill plug when trying to open it) and the rear gearcase (actually switched the fluid out but when I was torquing the fill plug back on, it broke into two pieces…not sure I believe the manual torque recommendations). Anyway, that was a lot more involved than I expected it to be, especially having to pull the whole back off to change out the spark plugs (I have a spare mounted on the back along with a storage box)…not to mention the extreme heat I was working in. On the plus side, I probably lost 5 lbs due to sweat. Next time should probably only take 2-3 hours as long as I don’t have to switch out the belt and spark plugs). Are the newer models easier to do the routine maintenance on?

Anyway, that’s me. Not many performance mods on my RZR but a fair share of comfort mods including stereo, Rigid Industries LED lighting and I did put a bench in the back seat (part of the reason it is tougher to get to the oil/spark plugs…) and a bump seat in the front so it actually fits the whole family with seating for 6 and harnesses for 6 (my youngest two are small daughters so it works at the moment).
