Help a newbie …XP 900 2013 seized engine

Good afternoon are ZRZ people of the world!

What a great site to come to and have communication with other enthusiasts thank you for having me !

I have a 2013 XP 900 are rZRWalker Evans edition. I bought it used from a guy here in Austin Texas which came with an extended service contract from Polaris star

I have only written it 4 or 5 times but a few weekends ago it started sounding louder than usual then it seized up

It’s been at the local dealer for about two weeks now and they told me the Pistons are ruined as well as the gears. They basically told me I would need a whole new engine top and bottom and I’m looking at five to $6000

They said it only had one quart of oil in it and that the inside was dried out

My question is there was no oil light that ever came on and it seem to happen pretty quick I was not riding it very rough that day so I’m curious why Polaris star would not cover. The dealer said they would submit it to Polaris but they were confident that when engine seizes it’s typically do to use or wear and tear

There is only 70 miles on the razor

I’ve read many others with similar issues with far less miles.

If anyone has any recommendations on where to start and challenging Polaris or where to find a good rebuilt engine that would be helpful

I have pictures sent from the dealer if you want to private message me

I look forward to getting to know some of you and thank you in advance for any guidence!!!

Chris from Austin

New from Pittsburgh, PA

I picked up my RZR 1000XP in September and just recently found the forum. I do most of my riding in the central part of the state where my parents live, but wouldn’t mind cutting that 2.5 hour drive out if I can. I’m in the South Hills area of Pittsburgh, so if anyone is ever looking for a riding partner, I’d be down to go (or if anyone has suggestions for places to ride out here)

French newbie

Hello everybody,

In first excuse-me for my bad english.
I’m 46 years old and I live in south of France.
I’ve discovered SSV recently by a friend who makes me try an RZR 570. It was my first experience on off-road with 4 wheels (few years ago I was doing it on motorcycle) and I was conquest by the driving sensation.
So, two weeks ago I’ve bought a brand new RZR900S 2016.
My first ride make it completly mud cover, it was a difficult moment to me :yikes: 3 hours to ride and 3 hours to clean it
There’s also a lot of path on the mountains all around my house with stones so I’ve bought few equipments to protect my RZR: front bumper, steel rock slider, hmw skide plate, front and rear a-arms guard, rear cab frame extensions, lower door and half windshield.

I come here to find informations and advises…..and to improving my english 😀
With pleasure to read you.

New to the RZR world

Hey all, we just bought our first side by side….so much to learn! My husband has been active with dirt and street bikes for about 30 years, but we wanted something for the family 🙂 We bought a 2016 XP4 1000 and have been breaking it in this past week. We can’t wait to get it out to the dune next week and find some great trails in AZ!!

New member and new orange XPT.

New forum member and just picked up my very first RZR. Buddy got the 1000 Fox edition last year so I had an obvious choice to make, the TURBO :ok:. Just picked it up Saturday and got my first two days on it and I can’t believe what an incredible machine it is. I’m a total newb to motor sport hobbies and I’ve jumped in the deep end so I’m glad I found a place like this to get ideas/advice.

I’m in Fallon, NV. If anyone is taking a trip to sand mountain I’d love to tag along (If I’m not in Tahoe skiing, after the last few winters I don’t take any good days for granted). Also spending time in Wilson Canyon. Always up to explore BLM land as well. Here’s some photos of my first weekend.

Hello Everyone!

Hi All,
Finally gave in a couple weeks ago and bought myself a RZR 🙂 and I must say I am disappointed that I waited this long to get one haha I love the thing. Its so much fun! Interested in meeting new people and getting lots on new information on these things!

Cheers,

Just bought a 2015 XP 4 1k, tips to prevent breaking often?

Just bought a slightly used 2015 XP 4 1000 last weekend! Very happy with the purchase got a great deal only has 28 hrs and 180 miles. Took my first ride today and sadly already broke a rear axle after 2 hrs of riding. After reading up I learned on a small jump I held the throttle while in the air, which snaps the axles easily I found out after the fact lol. So any tips on anything to prevent little things like this instead of learning the $300 hard way?

Finally gave in ;)

Hi,
long time browser of the forums. Lots of reading and learning, I’ve had lots of canam atvs and a few others Yamaha, Kawasaki, Honda and a rhino, commander and wildcat trail as far as sxs go. One thing I really like so far about the RZR is the amount of info and forum participation and also plethora of aftermarket options for accessories as opposed to only oem stuff.

Just picked up my first RZR.
16 RZR 1ks in black . Very nice rig so far.
Waiting on my saw grip and warn provantage to arrive to start down the long road of aftermarket goodies lmao!!!

Thanks

Kc
