The Dalton clutch – from a dig stab hits 7900-8000 (according to the tach) until about 100′ then revs up to 8700ish
From a roll of 15-20mph it will jump straight to 8800-8850 and stay there until around 85.
This seem about right? Again no weight (rivets) in tip… Just all the screw in weights installed in heel. Recommendations? I figured it would always rev to 8800 or so regardless if from a dig or rolling???
We have been waiting for EPI to come out with or have available the roller and button kits for 900 and 1000 primary clutches.
Talked with them this am and they have them but do not plan to release to public but would sell to someone like Hunterworks with the following understanding.
I want to know if it would be worth us getting into it or not and want your feedback.
Talking with EPI this AM the reason they don’t want to release them to the public is, there is no guarantee these will last 50 miles or 5000 miles
They talk with Polaris and the reason Polaris does not sell these parts for the 1000 is, that if you need these parts the clutch is too worn and need a new clutch.
Without going into great detail of the whys I want to know this.
Would anyone buy a roller/button kit for $99 shipped to any lower 48 state with absolutely no warranty at all, you get the kit and it is yours end of subject.
Only reason I am interested is, I am think some people would be willing to try it to keep from buying a $450 clutch.
We will not be doing any installs either, just the kits if we decide to do this.
So based on the feedback I get from this post we may or may not sell them
EPI stated that the parts are not failing due to themselves it is the worn out clutches causing them to fail and the parts are getting blamed and simply not worth it to them to give them a bad name. I already know this is happening in the xp900 where you can buy those rollers from Polaris. Polaris is not planning on selling those parts on future clutches according to what I was told. Only time will tell.
Hey Todd, I had ball equipment put your dalton clutch kit on my jagged x a few months back. Since then I’ve been through 3 sets of primary rollers. I know john gilbert sent you a email with pics. We’ve tried a different set of adjustable weights also. I don’t know what to do at this point. Do I order a new primary clutch?

I have not really thought about it much until yesterday when I was talking with Gates for a while.
Two things you should never do to any brand belt, bend it backwards too much, you will damage it, they are not designed to be bent backwards, not brand specific all brands
Wire Tying to a roll bar:
When doing this for storage for a trail ride as a spare, wire tie it with two wire ties closer to the center leaving the ends in larger loops so you do not bend the ends down too tight, that will make the belt split, once again not brand specific, none are designed to be pinched that tight on the ends.
