Just wondering for those that have followed Yamaha longer than I, are they likely to reintroduce the 450, perhaps with FI or is this size ATV a thing of the past in the Grizzly line?
Manual calls for mobilfluid 424. Looks like some type to hydro fluid for wet brakes on tractors. I can see why the Kodiak would use this, but why the Grizzly? Looks like Amsoil makes something that will work, But can i just run regular 80/90 gear oil?
Hey guys got a couple questions, i tried searching but for some reason it doesn’t seem to work on my phone. Have a 02 660 and am about to make a few changes and was hoping for help to get started. Currently it has an aftermarket pipe (not a complete system but its more then just the muffler) the brand is a Scripion from what i’ve found is for streetbikes but it will have to do since the wife aint gonna let me fork out the money for anything else lol. Also plan on doing an EHS airbox lid and R2C airfilter with a prefilter. and just wanna get an idea on what jet sizes to start with? I don’t believe it was rejetted for the exhaust as the previous owner wasn’t that knowledgeable and i get quite the backfire on decel if i get above about 15-20mph. Going to have my uncle who was a motorcycle mechanic for years check the valves and figured while i had it apart i’d make any changes to the carb i needed. So if anyone with a similair setup could chime in with what they are running, also the elevation is about 1200ft.
Sorry for the book just wanted to try and be as thorough as possible.
Hi, my name is Seth and i am getting an itch to get in to ATv-ing. I just got my first truck a 2015 ford f150. I been looking at the Yamaha grizzly 700 and the can am outlander xt 650-850. I will be mostly trail riding rocky, muddy and wet terrian. The location i will be riding at is the reading anthracite coal company’s land here in Pennsylvania. The trail is about 45-55 minutes away. I believe the trail is 31 miles long. My budget is around 11 grand. I might wait until next year to see what new models come out. I am really leaning towards the grizzly because it will fit in my 6.5 foot bed. I was looking at the 700 ESP SE because i really hate the blue and green colors. I was trying to find out how comparable is the outlander xt 650 to the grizzly 700 esp. Are they both pretty reliable machines? I did do some research into both of them and what they offer. The only thing is i don’t know what i really need since i haven’t driven an atv since i was young and even then it was only for a couple weeks. I love the outdoors and am a avid hiking/bushcrafter. I am thinking the best thing to do is ride both of them. I was also looking at the can am x mr 570, i know this is more of a mud rider and from what i read that’s it’s not the best for trail riding. Should i stay away from mud ATV’s since that what they are specified to do.
My 2002 660 has little over 6000 miles on it. I kinda like fixing little things that go wrong. In the last year the little fixes are getting more and more frequent. Starting to get a loud whining noise from the belt area. Got me thinking the main bearing is going out. Don’t know though.
I have already have the go ahead from the wife to get a new 700 Grizz. Just trying to save up to pay cash by this summer. Its not worth it to anyone but me to keep it running and I’m scared to sell it and it fall apart on whoever buys it. When I get a new one it won’t be that big of a deal when the old one is down. Just use it for a backup I guess.
Hello.
Mine friends 2008 Yamaha grizzly 700 not charging properly. We were riding for 1hour and then he was going slow then stopped and it stalled. And then when he tried to start it the starter relay was like clicking fast (cik cik cik cik) and it wont start. I towed him home. Turned on charged battery and it fires right up.Then we start and remove negative battery from battery and when we turn lights on it stalls instantly. So i thought maybe lights are shorting something. Turned off one light connector, started the bike and when i turn the light on it runs but really Bad and engine light turns on. So i tried checking stator by checking connector with 3 white wires and it shows 2.4-2.6 something like that. So what thats supposed to mean? Stator is Bad or almost Bad? And when i checked continuity ( that thing where you touch multi meter wires together you hear peep) so when i checked on white wires every time i hear peeep. And one think that is strange that its always showing same on all wires. And forgot the real numbers it was 2.4 or 0.24 but something like that.
Hi all, I reached my 500 mile break in took machine to get full service and had everything checked out, I did change the oil at 20 hrs mark as called for in the manual, I went with factory Yamaha 0w30 semi after break in for easy cold weather starts and is a very good oil I also went with the longer oil filter that’s available from Yamaha that fits the 708 instead of the factory short filter, changed the plug which was a bit sooty had my fender protectors with foot pegs installed which were on back order and the rest of my skid plates installed, overall the grizz worked very good for me with only a couple of hipcups during hunting season, I am very pleased with the grizz looking forward to some winter riding. thanks
I’m looking to upgrade my stock tires. Dealer so far has offered Mudlites, Kenda Bear Claw 6 ply bias, and Zillas. They all came in around the same price, except for the Zillas. They cost more than the other two and I will have to get one size larger due to them running small.
The area I ride in is mostly logging roads with some rocky washouts and the occasional foot deep water hole with mud. Usually I avoid any type of mud. I use the machine to plow in the winter and ride in the snow. I’d also like a tire stiff enough for me to drive out of the woods on a flat and I’d rather not do a clutch mod.
Do any of these tires fit the bill? The dealer can order anything.
