Have an 02 Grizzly that I bought new at the end of June 2001 right after they came out. Great quad. Haven’t ridden a lot in the last 10 yrs since marriage and kids of course. Its got maybe 3100 miles on it. HMF exhaust, full factory a-arm guards, overfenders, aftermarket rims and Bear Claw HTRs. No problems mechanically.
A friend has a 2014 550 with EPS that would come with a 6’x9′ trailer. Its got under 100 miles on it and he wants $7500 for the lot.
My question, is this even worth entertaining? The EPS and trailer are what make it attractive, that and you could likely get it for $7000 if you walked up and showed cash I figure.
Mainly, I can sell what I have, I’m assuming swap wheels/tires over from one to the other (I’m guessing the backspacing is the same, or would hope I guess). And I know fuel injection and evolution over time have made smaller engines run better. (the 08 King Quad 450 EFI will attempt to hold its own with my carbureted 660 and its actually impressive to me for 200 CC less)
Would I lose anything from one to the next doing this? Gain power steering, gain the whole newer design with likely better ride/handling. I have no idea how the power of a fuel injected 550 compares to a 15 year old 660 though.
Being a Giz dummy I have some questions I hope someone can assist me with. Can anyone point me in the direction of a shim kit that will be compatible with the 2016 Griz? I’m running 26" BigHorn OG’s on stick rims, will I also need to add an aftermarket secondary spring?
For those that have the new grizz, im looking for advise on aftermarket wheels. Given the wider stance, do after market wheels make it too wide for tight trails? Or is it barely noticeable and make it a bit more stable for off camber? Trying to decide on blue eps or carbon. It might come down to is the extra width of aftermarket wheels preferable or not. Either way, I will be installing ob growlers. Thanks
I haven’t done the roto pax yet, but I did get a new Raider rear box. Some reviews of the box stated that the locks fell out of the latches and the latches weren’t sturdy.
We went to the Attica Badlands on Saturday and rode for a few hours. I hit some whooped out areas, climbed some rocky hills, and bounced over some fallen trees.
No issues with the latches or locks. It got a little wet and muddy and the seal was fine.
The only thing I don’t like is the length of the u-bolts, which can be remedied with a cut off tool and some de-burring.
hi anybody install factory eps on a 2009 grizzly efi ,i have the entire steering colum and module of a 2008 grizzly ,is there alot of modifications to do for wiring harness ,any tips helpfull
So after much consideration, I have come to the conclilusion that power steering has become a "need" for me due to some elbow and wrist issues I am having. Through physical therapy, I have learned that my grip strength has been affected in at least my right hand. Not to mention the pain I experience in my elbows and right wrist during exertion. If I went on a trip today, I don’t think I’d last more than a couple days riding any kind of challenging terrain before I would have to throw in the towel. I had PS on my old Rubicon and it made a world of difference. Up until I recently sold it I would take it around the block every so often and the difference was amazing. All this isn’t to say I don’t just want PS. I absolutely do, but I think I’m justified in changing machines now much more than I was.
So here’s what I’m thinking. I’m looking for a solid, very lightly used , very low miles / hours 14 or 15. I mean, as long as I’m trading up for PS I might as well trade up for the improved suspension and wider stance… Right? lol. I found a (this will make Ridgway happy) GREEN 2014 with only 300ish miles not too far away. He bought it as new old stock 8 months ago. The guy’s CL ad says he wants 8k for it (yea… I know). I shoot him a message and he considers 6k and then says he would do 6500. I told him 6k is what I got, which it is. I’m hoping he’ll decide that 6k is better than a machine he doesn’t want. We’ll see. In the mean time, the hunt continues.

Hey guys looking at a new 2014 grizzly 700 sEPS. My question is were all the 700s fuel injected or did they still come with carbs in 2014. I didn’t check the one I’m looking at.
Thank.
:yrules:I have a new 2015 demo with new stock tires and skid plates. What would be the best upgrade to do without clutch and spring kits? I have a 4 year warranty and don’t want to put it in jeopardy. The griz is a 700 hunter with thumb and hand warmers.
