So who has ridden the 2016?

I’m anxiously awaiting the arrival of a 2016 Grizzly at my dealer. I’m curious to how different the feel and power will be compared to the 2015. 2015s are marked down $1200 compared to 2016s around here. That is hard to ignore. Especially considering that all the accessories from my 2009 will bolt on a 2015. $1200 will buy a nice set of Elkas!

Back from the first ride on my new grizzly

Hey guys hows it going, back from the first ride with my new grizzly, all i can say is WOW, so smooth, in every way, from, power delivery, to suspension, just a pure delight to ride, i took it out this morning while everyone else was still sleeping, took it up the trail to a little pit and just spent some time getting comfortable with it, i just cant get enough of it, that’s my Honda in that pic as well, my dads kodiak needed bearings and they didnt come in the day we loaded up and my honda needed front tires, so he put his front wheels on my honda and loaded that, then the day before we left his bearings came in, so we put his bearings in and just tossed the front wheels left in the garage on his kodiak, so my front itp wheels were on his atv

Sea-Foam in the oil

I put a couple ounces in my oil and ran it for 100 miles. The oil was clean when I added it and I’ve been running T-6 synthetic, at 600-800 mile intervals, since I’ve owned the quad, over a 4000 mile span.

Holy crap I was shocked at how dirty it was when I changed it today. It was black as midnight and thick. I think this stuff cleaned the hell out of my cylinder…it works!

I also added it to the fuel on my last fill-up…it ought to be running good now!

2004 660 Griz troubleshooting.

G’day all,
Sorry for the first post from yet another "noob" to be an info request of the brains trust, but sometimes ya just gotta do it.

I have bought a 2004 660 as a non going bike that had been partially stripped and was found to have had a spun camshaft – guessing no oil got up top and it grabbed.

I got a new one plus some other bits and pieces from the US – much, much, much cheaper from where the majority of you guys are, plus shipping than buying locally. Great example was the top cover – US$35 plus postage Vs AU$138 plus postage. . . .

Anyway I digress. . .

1. The grizzly starts perfectly however blows A LOT of smoke until it warms up, then it is minimal – suggestions?

2. The fuel gauge does not work – I have replaced the sender unit from inside the tank, but still just have the flashing fuel symbol on the LCD display – again any suggestions would be appreciated.

I am sure there will be more questions, but for now this will do.

Oh, a lil about me? Umm I am in the Australian Army, am a Medic, and have worked with some great US Soldiers, Sailors and Marines in Sandy places.

Front and Rear Solid Brake Rotors

I have done some searching and have not found any solid rotors for our Grizzlies, except for a company here in OZ that specializes in Motor Cycle brake components. They are called Metalgear International. I have spoken with them and they are keen to produce front and rear solid rotors if there is enough demand for them. They have already completed the front rotors, but have not had much call for them. As such they are reluctant to produce the rears. I believe that if they made the rears people would buy both front and rear. I know I wouldn’t just do the front solid rotors and leave the rears slotted.

Why solid rotors? I believe that the slotted rotors are responsible for the excessive brake pad wear we all experience when mud riding. I have chewed through a set of Race Driven pads in one 4 hour endure. Ok well they are down to under half thickness. I think the mud is getting into the slots and grinding away our pads. If the pads were solid then this may be reduced… Can anyone speak on this with any experience? or authority? Most on road vehicles have solid non slotted rotors. High performance vehicles and bike have drilled or slotted because of a phenomenon called gassing. I really don’t think our bikes brakes are getting hot enough to gas off the pads.
Maybe the solid rotors will be more prone to warping?

I have asked the company, if they do produce the rear rotors in a solid configuration, I’d be happy to trial them.
Would anyone else be interested in these rotors? or know of anyone in the States that are already doing this?

Cheers
