Done with Polaris!!! Eyeing up a new Grizzly

Soo… this past riding season has been a nightmare. My once beloved 2012 Polaris Sportsman 850 XP saw more time in the garage than riding. With only 2000 miles on it it was one thing after another. Yesterday my wife finally had a chance to ride with me. One week ago I just got the thing back together. I had to replace u joints on the prop shaft. We get 30 miles into our easy, dirt road ride and I hear this whining noise. I pull over and low and behold BOTH hubs on front diff are loose. Now my bearings inside the diff are both bad!!!??? At 2000 miles? Come on Polaris…really!? That was final straw for me. Started doing some research and found that its pretty common for things to go downhill around 2000 mile mark on an 850. So its getting traded in….and I am looking at the Yamahas. The 700 Grizzly to be exact. I see they are selling the 2015 to make room for the 2016 models. Everyone says they are superior to polaris and I compared the parts schematics of 850 to that of the Grizzly. Polaris has this habit of making the common wear items available as an assembly. Didnt see much of that on the Griz. Also Griz looks much easier to work on. Sometimes you get feeling Polaris designed stuff so you have to take it to the stealership. Anyways…. I am looking for everyones input on their grizzlies!!! Is it fairly easy for a second person to ride on it? Sometimes my wife will ride with me. This doesn’t happen alot though. Most of time I am solo.

Rare grizzlies?

I stumbled across this today, never have seen or heard anything about it. Maybe it wasn’t that rare in Canada, not sure. I am assuming this was a Canadian model because of the reflectors. Kind of interesting and since it seems like Canadians get more options (tac black in 15 &16) I was wondering what other rare grizzlies are out there?

Grizzly got dressed up…

Put the new Camo Plastics on the bike this weekend. Along with a few other things… and a few too many beers…lol..

Started the Run in procedure on the engine. Couldn’t help but give it a good squirt after an hour of accelerating up to 60 KPH then back down then back up…lol so it raced up to 105 KPH and that’s not wound out… I think by the time it sees the 28" Mega Mayhems it might loose a bit of that…lol

Also got the LED Light bars fitted and wired in. Had a play with the clutch and confirmed the ratio at standard (2.45:1) and with 1.5mm Shim it was 2.70:1…

Here’s some pics of the bike all dressed up

Hog hunting

Hey guys I have had yamaha dirt bikes forever, but just decided to give the grizzlirs a try. I hog hunt and need a small do all 4 wheeler to get back into the shit when the dogs catch in a thicket. I use my dad’s 2005 bruin now and it does ok. I like the small size but it still packs an ok pinch. I have found a 2007 350 irs for 2500 bucks, but I was wondering if yall knew if it had a diff lock or not. Also, if I put 26x10x12 executioners all the way around with a shim mod, would it still do ok. I’m not scared of a jet kit either. What would be yall opinion on a good smaller 4 wheeler?? Thanks all.

EHS Filter mod

OK, So I have one of these things on order, along with the Bullet box and an EHS Lid. I’m going to go with the Exhaust Tip from 2R for now and get the Barker later. As I understand it the Barker was not the big power gain on the 2014-15, rather it was the lid and bullet box. The reason I’m getting the filter pod is that I feel that if a bit of water did come through the lif screen then it would sit in the bottom of the air box and not get sucked into the intake. Of course if it was a lot of water then it will get drawn in….

Question without notice. Is there an alternative to the EHS pod filter. Being in Australia it may be easier for me to find a replacement when needed locally. Is there a K&N alternative? Who makes the EHS Pod Filter? Heard it was APC? could not find anything on their website. having to order from EHS is not a major issue, but its a long way to come to Oz for something that I may be able to get locally.

Cheers

EHS Racing Big 3

Has anyone got one of these Big 3 Setups on their Grizzly? I’ve send a couple of Emails to EHS but have not received a reply from them. I’m keen to put their system on my new 15 Grizzly 700 but I have a query that someone on the forum maybe able to help with. It has to do with the air box lid they provide. During the Wet Season here in Darwin Australia, It gets very wet, and its not uncommon to ride through water deep enough to drown your bike if you’re not careful. I’ve not had need to put a snorkel on my old Grizzly, and don’t see a need to put one in the new one, but there have been times I’m sure that water has washed over the air box when venturing a bit too deep. I’m worried that water will easily enter the air box through the screen thy fit.

Now the Fuel Controller they use is set up for the Air box Mod and the Exhaust. So if I use the standard Air Box when I’m riding in the wet, will I have to bugger around with the fuel controller? Happy to use the lid in the dry season to get a bit more go out of it…..

Can anyone shed any light on this?

Cheers
