I rode my friends 2003 Grizzly 660 today to compare it to my 2014 Grizzly 550 with power steering to see how much harder the 660 would steer. To my surprise the 660 turns a lot easier at any speed than my power steering 550. I have read the old post about the power steering but was not expecting this result. I will say my 550 tracks a lot easier than the 660 without wandering around. The power steering light is not on but it makes you wonder if the power steering is really doing anything.
The radiator fan is not coming on causing an overheating issue. I did a direct connect from the battery to the fan, fan works. I checked the power to the coolant temp sensor and couldn’t find a hot line, the manual isn’t much help. Any suggestions on where I go with this? New member here, and have just enough mechanical skill to really break stuff.
If indeed I do buy a 2016 Grizz (open house coming up , good deals!) what can I expect Mpg wise. Just so you know my cat I find to be hard (got it now about the same as a max outty 1000.)
Hey guys , what were the differences in the 07/08 throttle bodies compared to the 09/12 , and how can u tell ? Is there a part # stamped on the body somewhere ?
Hello GC,
So i did 1 day mud ridding in which i havent used winch and other day i was cleaning the grizz. And i wanted to clean everything so i pulled winch cable all way and cleaned everything and when i was pulling it back i noticed that it started doing clicking something noise and not pulling but just press button few times and it pulls again.
I was looking at a new kodiak 700 but to get eps and diff lock, I am at $8900. I’ve been looking at some 2014 grizzly 700’s now that have what I want in the $7500-8k range. The quad would be most used for hunting and steep rocky terrain. I’m not looking for the newest machine but a solid reliable yamaha that has the features. To me, it seems a new 2014 grizzly is a hell of a deal and still offering top prevalent features today.
What are your insights? I found a 2014 grizzly 700 eps se for $7999. With them being almost two years older, what kind of deals do you think I can come by on one?
I’ve had my grizzly (660) for a year; bought it from an older gentleman that REALLY took care of it. The bike is 10 years old and looks brand new. I flushed the coolant system and changed the front drive shaft when I first got it (floppy coupler issue), but today I changed the oil and filter, took apart the cvt to clean, change the belt, and put a 1 mm shim in, flushed the brake fluids, changed all four axles, and cleaned the air filter. The 1 mm shim mod really gave the thing some balls in the low end; too end I still get 55mph which is plenty fast enough. I also changed diff fluids to synthetic. All of this work I did today for the first time, and was able to do so thanks to tips and knowledge gained from reading these forums. Thanks to all who contribute to these threads; I’d much rather work on my own stuff than pay someone to do it.
I think I’ll tackle a carb cleaning the next time and a ball joint replacement.
