Team DragonFire Brings The Heat To The BlueWater Desert Challenge

The DragonFire-backed Pro Unlimited UTV racer Lacrecia Buerrier and co-driver Chris Moore made it back-to-back wins with this weekend’s Best In The Desert BlueWater Desert Challenge; an event that hosts multiple vehicle classes for UTV, Buggy, Jeep Speed and Trick Truck. However as great as this weekend was, with Lacrecia racing from last to first on day one of the two-day BlueWater race format and totally dominating day two, is the next really important race: the 10th Annual M.O.R.E Powder Puff Race Towards A Cure on November 21.

Lacrecia is out to honor the survival, determination and compassion of those fighting breast cancer. “My hot pink Polaris RZR and the Pink Ribbon is not something that was just slapped on the car for Breast Cancer Awareness Month, we are racing for a cure and breast cancer awareness every single time we take to the track.”

No question that it helps the cause when she is flying the colors from the top of the podium, as she did at The Mint 400 and both the Best In The Desert Vegas To Reno race back in August and again at the BlueWater Desert Challenge this past weekend. Making this victory even sweeter was the fact that this sweep broke a four-year streak of DNFs at the Desert Challenge. It also served as icing on the cake for Lacrecia’s 2015 BITD Pro Unlimited Championship season!

Day 1

Lacrecia and her DragonFire Polaris RZR took the line at 5:45 a.m. in darkness with the largest Unlimited Pro class of the season. After having already wrapped up the points championship the goal was simple… finish and have fun! Turns out Lacrecia is very fast when she is having fun since it didn’t take long for her to start passing cars. On the first of three laps about halfway through the loop there was an overturned vehicle in a narrow canyon that quickly backed up many racers. co-driver Chris saw an opening on the right hand side and the duo shot right at it squeezing by the traffic jam. Now with clean air Lacrecia put the hammer down and started closing in on the only car in front of her. Dusty and rough is nothing new so the team blasted through at a blistering pace.

After lap two Lacrecia and Chris received a call on the radio and were told the lead car was having issues and had not left the pits. With only minutes behind they pressed on with a sizeable lead on the rest of the pack. During a high speed paved section the team lost a drive belt and rolled to a stop but co-driver Chris hopped out and had them back up and running before any car in any class was able to make a pass. The team set it on cruise control and headed to the finish line. While at the finish line and waiting to drive up on the podium the Champ’s car sprung a fuel leak at a loose fitting so in true race car driver style Lacrecia took off on foot to the podium eager to thank her sponsors for helping her get to the finish line once again in first place.

Day 2

This is known as the roughest day in racing after nearly 200 vehicles had chewed up the course the day before. Lacrecia and Chris did not want to risk anything so they decided to set a slower pace and just finish and they were right on track to do so until they saw a green flag. The racer side of Lacrecia’s brain took over after grabbing a hole shot and she was off flying once again. With absolutely no wind the team drove into a thick wall of dust that proved sight was a luxury. Staying true to her desert roots Lacrecia pushed on. One by one the dynamic duo picked off cars all the way to the finish line and when the dust settled, they were amazed to learn they finished 13th overall on the weekend and 1st in the Unlimited Pro UTV Class!

Lacrecia and Chris could not wait to jump into the lake and enjoy the rest of the races as spectators. Lacrecia looks forward to heading to the final round in Henderson, Nevada on December 4-6, 2015, on a track she knows and loves with the personal goal of a top ten overall finish to prove to the rest of the field and herself that she can and will chase you down in the dirt. But first there will be a quick stop for the 10th Annual M.O.R.E. Powder Puff Race Towards A Cure on November 21st that Lacrecia donates to every year and although the finish points don’t matter at this race we know she will be gunning for the podium as usual.

Lacrecia would like to thank all the sponsors supporting her win to Best In The Desert Pro Unlimited championship this season, including DragonFire, AO Coolers, Axxis Rod Ends, AZ West, Bell, BS Sand, Bulldog LED lights, CP-Carrillo, Dalton Industries, Factory UTV, Gates, ITP, Lonestar Racing, Monster Seal, Mothers Polish, Muzzy’s, Polaris Industries, Queen Racing, Raceline Wheels, Radflo Suspension, Rockstar Customs, Royal Purple, Rugged Radios, Tred 4×4 and Wicked Bilt. Baja 1000 help /advice

My buddy and I are going to the Baja 1000 this year for the first time. Will be there from the 18th to the 23rd. I would like to participate in a Score or BITD race or two next year in class 1900. Need advice on where to spectate and where to stay. I guess our ideal thing would be to hook up with a race team and help chase and pit . So here it goes, if any teams are in need of help or are willing to take these two guys in their 40s from New Jersey and show them what its all about it truly would be appreciated. All and any advice is welcome. The advice to get another hobby and forget about dessert racing so that for the rest of your life you wont be broke and your wife wont hate you, yeah its way too late for that.
