2016 Can-Am® Outlander® L Family

A year after its impressive debut, the Can-Am Outlander L ATV family returns even stronger for 2016 with updated performance levels, revised one-year break-in maintenance schedule and all-new packages. A new, class-leading 48-hp Rotax® V-Twin provides improved performance for the new Outlander L 570. A new Green and optional Mossy Oak† Break-Up Country Camo† are new color choices for the Outlander L models in 2016. Also joining the family for 2016 are two all-new packages: Outlander L LE 570 and Outlander L Mossy Oak Hunting Edition.

Aside from their engines, the Outlander L 570 and Outlander L 450 ATVs share many of the same major components and include one- and two-rider (MAX) platforms with and without electronic power steering.

PERFORMANCE

2 Rotax engine options
The 48-hp, eight-valve, liquid-cooled SOHC Rotax 570 V-Twin offers improved performance for the new model year — making this engine the most powerful in its category. The Outlander L 570 ATV’s engine received larger pistons, longer stroke and a higher connecting rod
to improve horsepower and torque as well as acceleration without compromising top-end speed. The new efficient 570cc Rotax EFI engine gained an additional 4% horsepower and 9% more torque in low and mid-range RPM and remains very capable of work and play. EFI ensures optimal performance from the engine at all times.

The Outlander L 450 uses a hearty 38-hp Rotax single-cylinder engine, with electronic fuel injection to be the benchmark in its category. EFI ensures optimal performance from the engine at all times. Progressive throttle control means the power remains manageable in slow-speed circumstances or during quicker riding situations.

CVT transmission
The CVT (Continuously Variable Transmission) means no shifting is required. The system includes standard engine braking with High, Low, Park, Neutral and Reverse gears. On the Rotax 570 V-Twin, a new L gear ratio is now 7% shorter, meaning more comfort for low-speed riding and better traction for pulling heavy loads. The CVT housing has 13 bolts to ensure a proper seal and also includes an integrated drain plug.

1,300-pound towing capacity
Fully equipped to move a load, the Outlander L has a standard rear hitch plate and a category leading 1,300-pound (590 kg) towing capacity.

Dual-room, no-tools air box
The no-tools air box is placed at a high and centralized location for filtering and processing air. It also has a dual-room air filtration design that captures dirty air in one portion of the box and clean air in another section before it sends the air to the engine. A higher air intake ensures performance in mud and water.

HANDLING

Torsional Trailing Arm Independent (TTITM) rear suspension
With far less moving parts than competitive systems, TTI is designed to eliminate scrub and camber changes when the suspension works up and down and keep the quad in straight line. The rear suspension also has motion-control shocks and offers 8.8 inches (22.4 cm) of travel. It includes a removable external sway bar and lower pivot points for geometric squatting to improve traction and power transfer.

Double A-arm front suspension
The double A-arm configuration with motion-control shocks and five-way adjustable preload settings provides a smooth ride. Front-end suspension travel is 9 inches (23.6 cm). Dive-control geometry tightly controls the roll-center, especially when entering corners.

10.5-inch ground clearance
A whopping 10.5 inches (26.7 cm) of ground clearance gives the Outlander L exceptional capabilities in challenging terrain

Surrounding Spar Technology (SSTTM) G2 Frame
The Outlander L ATVs use an industry-exclusive Surrounding Spar Technology (SST) G2 frame from BRP. The welded-steel SST frame offers increased structural integrity and handling with fewer parts.

Visco-Lok† auto-locking front differential
The Visco-Lok front differential system progressively transfers power from a slipping front wheel to the gripping one — automatically with no buttons to push or levers to pull.

12-inch (30.5 cm) steel wheels / 25-inch (66 cm) tires
Wrapped in 25-in. Carlisle Trail Wolf Tires, the 12-inch steel wheels on the Outlander L provide rugged performance in tough terrain and changing conditions. A bigger tire design helps you easily overcome obstacles as you ride.

214 mm disc brakes
Large 214 mm disc brakes, front and rear, have hydraulic twin-piston calipers for superior stopping power.

RIDER-FOCUSED DESIGN

NEW Revised maintenance break-in
The break-in maintenance requirement is no longer necessary on the Outlander vehicles, saving consumers time and money in the long run. The break-in has been revised to one year (1,500 km / 932 miles) from 10 hours (300 km / 186 miles).

Easy-to-use maintenance center
Easily accessible and out of the elements under the seat, a centralized maintenance area offers easier access and improved protection. The rear brake fluid reservoir, solenoid starter, battery and relays are also conveniently located under the seat.

Genuine accessories add versatility
No matter the chore or destination, the Outlander L is ready for the challenge. With a large range of accessories and versatile LinQ rack system, it’s purpose-built with the rider in mind. Customize it for your specific needs, for both work and play, and enjoy.

Steel racks with LinQTM quick-attach accessory system
The Outlander L models have front and rear steel racks. Due to its slightly shorter stance and steel racks, the Outlander L vehicles offer the rider improved sight lines while driving without a front loaded rack. The integrated LinQ quick-attach accessory system offers convenient and adaptable cargo hauling capabilities and works with numerous Can-Am rack accessories.

360-pound (163 kg) combined rack capacity
The Outlander L ATVs are made to work, with 360-pound (163 kg) combined rack capacity. They can tote up to 120 pounds (54 kg) up front and another 240 pounds (109 kg) on the rear rack.

2.9-gallon (10.9 L) water-resistant rear storage compartment
The Outlander L models have a convenient, 2.9-gallon (10.9 L) water-resistant rear storage compartment located on the rear rack.

400-W Magneto

Equipped with dual 35-W front headlights, with selectable high and low beams, for superb visual clarity.

Large 5.4-gallon (20.5 L) Fuel Tank
Ride longer and get the job done with the large-capacity fuel tank.

NEW Available Colors
Choose between an all-new Green and Viper Red for base (non DPS) models.

CAN-AM OUTLANDER L MAX 570 / OUTLANDER L MAX 450

The Outlander L MAX vehicles again offer the same segment-leading engine choices, chassis and suspension as the single-rider ATVs, but they also have their own unique two-rider features like a longer wheelbase, passenger-specific ergonomics, convertible seating system and more. For 2016, the base Outlander L MAX is available with Viper Red plastic.

Dynamic Passenger Comfort (DPCTM)
The Outlander L MAX ATVs have passenger-influenced ergonomics to produce a comfortable and consumer-friendly two-rider vehicle. DPC ergonomics means comfortable seating, cushioned ride and placing the passenger in an optimal riding position. The seating system allows for gradual bending of the backrest and pivoting to reduce kick back during acceleration / braking and well as offering engineered enhancements like regressive flex and formed grooves for improved comfort.

Passenger handholds
The angled rear passenger handle position allows for flex while riding and also reduces the overall impact to the passenger’s hands. The handles also allow for numerous hand positions to enhance the passenger’s riding experience and comfort level. For one-up use, the rear seat has integrated handles that don’t limit rear rack space or prohibit single-rider comfort.

Passenger footrest
All MAX models with the G2 SST frame have foot peg angles and depth that cater to the rear passenger. The footrests also have a third row of foot grips to improve lateral grip.

Convertible Rack System (CRSTM)
The Outlander L MAX is the lone two-up ATV that comes standard with a Convertible Rack System (CRS) for transforming the ATV into a single-rider machine. Transitioning from one-up to a two-rider vehicle takes only seconds and eliminates the touring look and feel when riding alone. The fact that the passenger handholds are attached to the seat means they don’t inhibit rider movement or take up rear rack space. An optional storage box is available.

CAN-AM OUTLANDER L DPSTM / OUTLANDER L MAX DPS

The DPS package gives buyers additional upgrades over the base Outlander L, and includes a Tri-Mode DPS, Visco-Lok QE‡ front differential,
cast-aluminum wheels, larger magneto and additional colors.

Tri-Mode Dynamic Power Steering
The Tri-Mode DPS features three selectable modes (MIN, MED, and MAX) of steering to adapt to your preference. Each mode is designed to offer less assist at high speed for better feel and precision and more assist at low speed for easier steering.

Visco-Lok QE front differential
The Can-Am Visco-Lok QE system is one of the most consumer friendly designs on the market, as the progressively and automatically locking front differential system requires no additional buttons to push or levers to hold. Once 4×4 is selected, the system intelligently transfers power from the slipping front wheel to the opposing wheel with traction and is not hampered by speed or rev limiters. The QE version progressively transfers the power even quicker.

12-inch, cast-aluminum wheels with centre-less design
Centre-less 12-in (30.5 cm) cast-aluminum wheels offer a stylish, unique look and reduced weight but improved strength in strategic areas. Dressed with 25-inch (66 cm) Carlisle Trail Wolf tires.

2016 Can-Am® Outlander® 6×6 Family

Whether it’s for extreme work or recreation, Can-Am has the most diverse 6×6 and ATV lineup in the industry. All Outlander 6×6 vehicles have an additional set of rear wheels, a 3,000-pound (1,360 kg) WARN† winch, an exclusive Double Torsional Trailing arm Independent (TTI2TM) rear suspension (complete with a quick-release sway bar), extra low L gear for work, a Dual-Level cargo box with modular accessories, the largest towing capacity of any Can-Am ATV and much more. For getting the job done, in the toughest of conditions, there’s nothing like the Outlander 6×6 XT 1000 and Outlander 6×6 XT 650. Like the rest of the Can-Am ATV lineup, the Outlander 6×6 vehicles now have the revised one-year (1,500 km / 932 miles) break-in maintenance schedule.

CAN-AM OUTLANDER 6×6 XT 1000

PERFORMANCE

82-hp Rotax V-Twin 1000
A 80o 976cc liquid-cooled Rotax V-Twin power plant is at the core of the Outlander 6×6 XT 1000 and produces an impressive 82 horsepower. With a superb power-to-weight ratio, 65.1 lbs.-ft. of torque and electronic fuel injection (46 mm throttle body), the single overhead cam engine is as efficient and strong. Regardless of temperature or altitude, EFI ensures optimal performance from the engine at all times. Despite its hearty performance levels, the eight-valve engine remains controllable and offers useable power for a wide array of riders and situations.

UPDATED CVT transmission with extra-low L gear
The CVT (Continuously Variable Transmission) means no shifting is required. The system includes standard engine braking, high, low, park, neutral and reverse. The CVT housing has 13 bolts to ensure a proper seal and also includes an integrated drain plug. Returning in 2016, the extra low-gear has a 32% lower ratio than a regular Outlander, offering an unmatched comfort for low-speed riding and an exceptional and smooth traction when pulling heavy loads.

Relocated air intakes
The engine’s air intake and CVT inlets have been positioned as high as possible on the Outlander 6×6 to improve breathing while navigating wet and muddy conditions.

Dual-room, no-tools air box
A no-tools air box is placed at a higher and more centralized location for filtering and processing air. A dual-room air filtration design captures dirty air in one portion of the box and clean air in another section before it sends the air to the engine. A higher air intake ensures performance in mud and water.

Large radiator
The large, efficient radiator offers up to 27 kW of cooling capacity to keep the engine running cool for optimal performance.

HANDLING

Tri-Mode Dynamic Power Steering (DPS)
Calibrated specifically for aggressive trail riding and racing, the Tri-Mode DPS system features three modes (MIN, MED and MAX) allowing riders to select the desired amount of steering assist for the terrain and conditions.

12-inch cast-aluminum wheels
The stylish 12-inch, machined cast-aluminum wheels have a computer-optimized configuration that increases strength in critical areas while removing unnecessary weight from other sections of the wheels.

Double Torsional Trailing arm Independent (TTI2) rear suspension
The Outlander 6×6 vehicles use an industry-exclusive, four-wheel independent rear suspension that eliminates scrub and camber changes. The wheels pivot up and down rather than in a butterfly motion. This ensures the vehicle moves only in the direction you point it and is designed to improve traction and optimize transfer of power to the ground. Offering a five-way preload adjustable shocks and 9.3 inches (23.6 cm) of suspension travel, it can soak up rough terrain while keeping the rider comfortable and focused on the trail.

Visco-Lok QE auto-locking front differential
For situations that require optimal traction and as much contact with the terrain at hand, the Outlander 6×6 offers both 4×6 and 6×6 with its Visco-Lok QE. In 4×6 mode, all four rear wheels provide traction. Once 6×6 is selected, the system intelligently transfers power from the slipping front wheel to the opposing wheel with traction and is not hampered by speed or rev limiters. The system progressively and automatically locks and requires no additional buttons to push or levers to hold.

Double A-arm front suspension with dive-control geometry
The front suspension features a dive-control, a short spindle, along with anti-kickback geometry to provide a better steering. Front-end suspension travel is 9 inches (22.9 cm) for improved trail comfort. Five-way preload shocks offer more than an inch of additional suspension travel.

11-inch ground clearance

When combined with its impressive suspension travel, Visco-Lok QE and true 6×6 capabilities, the 11-inch ground clearance on the Outlander 6×6 makes conquering rugged terrain a snap.

Surrounding Spar Technology (SST) G2 Frame
The Outlander 6×6 uses the industry-exclusive Surround Spar Technology (SST) second-generation frame. Featuring an 82-inch wheelbase, the frame offers delicate balance of structural integrity, durability and handling.

Quick-release sway bar
With its integrated Quick-Release Sway Bar, owners can adjust the amount of articulation from the rear TTI to improve the ride for both heavy loads or when unloaded.

214 mm disc brakes with twin-piston calipers
The 2016 Outlander 6×6 XT features four outboard 214mm hydraulic disc brakes with twin-piston calipers, front and rear, for superior stopping power.

26-inch Carlisle ACT Radial tires
Proven 26-inch ACT Radial tires from Carlisle provide a smoother ride and better shock absorption.

Standard skid plate
The high-strength skid plate is made from proven materials and is designed for supreme protection and has the ability to slide over certain obstacles.

1,650-pound towing capacity
Fully equipped to move a load, the Outlander 6×6 has a 2-in. (5 cm) receiver hitch and a 1,650-pound (750 kg) towing capacity that comes standard.

230-W headlights
The most lighting output of any ATV in the industry, these headlights honor the Can-Am heritage while offering enhanced visibility for trail riding. On high beam, the twin 60-W projectors and dual 55-W reflectors give the Outlander 230 W of visual clarity.

Large 5.4-gallon (20.5L) fuel tank
The Outlander has a capacity of 5.4 gallons (20.5 liters), which means one can ride longer and work harder.
