Greetings,
Bought a farm in northern Wisconsin, long driveway, the Leyland 270 is overkill for small snow amounts so we went the ATV route.
Got a 2000 Xpedition 325 with a Polaris (manual lift) plow for just over $2K. Starts great cold, runs well. There is no hour/mile meter on this machine. Found five zerks on the front end. Any tips, tricks, look-out-for’s on this model Polaris?
It has the switch for all-wheel drive on demand, other than getting into some slop is there away to verify it’s functionality?
Primary purpose for this machine is snow removal in the winter and farm duties (hauling a small trailer and probably our 15 year old dog) in the warmer months.
Like a previous poster here I am new to the world of ATV’s, old enough to not go on the whoopdeedoo’s but found it is fun cruising around on our 33acres. My wife is hiding the key from me because she absolutely loves riding Polly (yep, she named it). With that in mind any pointers/ links to General ATV safe riding practices would be appreciated.
Hello everyone, found the website while doing some searching and thought I’d join. I ride a 2015 scrambler 850, I put just over 1,100 miles on it this season, and I’m really looking forward to spring to ride again. Until then, I use it for plowing my driveway.
Specs on my machine
’15 scrambler 850
27" rip saw tires and Polaris wheels
Over fenders
LED headlights
Polaris handlebar lights
60" moose plow
Integrated 2500# winch
Polaris heated grips and throttle
I am from Calgary Alberta, I have been riding ATV’s for about 20 years.
I have had a 1995 Xplorer400, 2005 Sportsman 500HO and now a 2015 Sportsman 570 Touring SP. I like polarises a lot, I almost jumped ship to BRP but just couldn’t do it.lol
I am also a Ford Tech so any of you people owning fords, if you have questions, fire away. I will help if I can!
I have and big boss 250cc. 6×6 94mod. 2t
Iam 49 years old and are fulltime electrican and lives on a farm too.
The atv has been very helpful. But have a charging problem.
My question is what exhaust to run? Big gun has a sale going for Black Friday so i want to get it ordered soon. But my question is whats the difference between the Eco slip on, Evo U, and the Exo series? And is it worth the extra money for the full system? Do i need a tuner if i do the full system? Let me know what you guys have found. Thanks

New here but not new to atvs. Had a Honda rincon 7 years ago and can finally afford another Atv. Was going to get a side by side by decided to get a sportsman 1000 or sportsman 850. Not 100% sure and almost scared yet excited about owning a Polaris. I will mostly be riding hard packed roads and sand. Trying to stay out of the mud, I found with my rincon it always causes expensive issues. Well kinda long winded but glad to be a member.

After years of throwing snow with a Deere 180, I got stuck one time too many this last week.
Did some looking around and ended up getting an original owner 1999 Sportsman 500 RSE with a Cycle Country 60" front blade, CC 3 point back blade, cultivator and disc set.
It’s set up with a WARN 2000 winch and driving stock rims with 25 " Goodyear Tracker P front and rears.
About 600 hours and less than 2000 miles. Previous owner had annual dealership service records for every year since new to date. New belt, battery and CV boots last year. Started right up cold with no spitting or sputtering.
All in all it looks to be in great shape for any age, let alone 16 years old. Complete set up including a cover and extra set of turf tires and rims was $3600. On the high end, I know, but with the records (including cam change out about 2001) and condition, I think I did ok.
This will mainly be a snow mover, but I do live in the sticks so a bot of trail riding isn’t out of the question.
This is my first post as a new member. I signed up to gather information on my 2010 550 xp. I had a cold start problem that resulted in no fast idle and the only way it would start was to play with the throttle. Then there was backfiring and maybe a start and then all was good again. But I take a winter ride in December and could not trust it to start on a cold morning. I never found anyone addressing this problem and I had my eye on a Canam Max anyway so I proceeded to work a trade.
Now I am assuming that anyone with a Polaris knows that when you hit water on the trail the first thing to get wet are the tires. The second thing to get wet is the fuse box. Green as can be and two dealers acted surprised when I called and asked for terminals to repair the fuse box. I fixed it with a small universal fuse box and a plastic box that fit under the front body panel. Much better location.
But at trade-in time I was hit with a low value for two reasons. The wiring harness needed to be replaced as they said they could not sell it if it wasn’t factory correct. But they did admit it was a good idea.
The second hit was the 4×4 system. It never comes out of all wheel drive because the fluid was never changed. My mistake. I overlooked that and now with 2500 miles it needs a rebuild or replacement. The mechanic said owners aren’t aware of this and Polaris doesn’t make it well known.
So why am I writing all this since I traded it for a Canam?
For 5 years I had a good time with it and for health reasons I need a smoother ride. I want to share my experience so maybe someone else will learn from this story and avoid the problems I had.
Buy the repair manual if you can. $80.00 is a lot for it though. $15.00 for a disc for Canam. I’m not promoting Canam to anyone but I see a lot of unhappy Polaris owners on this forum, some still keep buying them, and you have to consider the three year warranty when bought new over the 90 day Polaris warranty.
So , remember…………85% of all Polaris ATVs made are still on the trails.
