Cracked brake reservoir… Can it be glued?

Hello fellow Polaris ATVers. I recently picked up a ’98 Xplorer 400 and had the misfortune of running my brake reservoir on my handlebars into a tree. It cracked the bottom of the plastic reservoir and the fluid began to leak out. I ordered a replacement reservoir but it won’t be here until after the 4th. I’d like to use it this weekend and I’m wondering a couple of things…. 1. Is there a glue or adhesive that I could use to repair the crack? 2. I lost the donut shaped gasket that goes between the reservoir and the handlebars….Can I pick up any rubber gasket for a temp fix?

I live in the Twin Cities and would like to take my daughter up North to Aitkin County for some fun trail riding, before she leaves town. Do you think I stand a chance of patching this thing up for a weekend ride without contaminating the brake fluid?

I think I’m attaching an image of the crack in the reservoir.

Thanks for any input!

Just Another New Guy in Central IL

Hey fellas (and ladies I assume), glad to be a part of the forum. My wife and I just become the happy new owners of two new ATV’s; unfortunately, I was the only one smart enough to buy Polaris!:veryhappy:

As soon to be empty nesters, we are moving on to this new endeavor, with our new toys to travel a bit and explore sights that you just can’t see from the road. My new addition is a 2015 Sportsman 850 SP. His name is Ol Dollor for all you Duke fans out there.

From what little time I’ve been lurking, I have already gained a lot from this forum, so thanks to all you vets that participate for us newbies. Really, the experience you share is quite invaluable to us all as we get started into this hobby/adventure.

Just wanted to stop in and say hey!

Hello

Hi All,
I posted earlier I hope to the right page, anyway here we go again Ha. Hello from Ireland,
I was just offered a Polaris 400cc and I am to take delivery in the next week it was made in 1994, the gearbox case is cracked and I am hoping I can get it welded, but I dont know too much about them I will need all the help I can get. looking forward to all the help.:veryhappy:

New owner in MN

Hi, I am new to the forum and just purchased a 2013 Polaris Sportsman 550 X2. My brother and friend both purchased new 2015 Polaris Sportsman 570 EPSs at the same time. I joined as I want to be able to learn more about the machines, learn more about the upgrades and have motivation to keep riding.

We will mostly be trail riding in MN, but want our machines to be able to get through some mud at the same time. In the first 12 miles of riding, my friend got stuck in a few muddy areas of ditches and we want to be able to get through those areas with ease.

My first struggle relates to finding a better tire package. I found a good deal on a set of wheels/tires from a rzr locally but am not sure what I will need to do to get them to work. I posted about this in the wheels/tire forum.

I look forward to learning from you guys/gals along the way and think the forum will be a valuable resource for me as well. I hope there will be things I can help others with as well!

James

New and looking for storage info

Hello all I am new on here and looking for some information. I just bought a used 2007 sportsman 800 2 up. I am trying to find some kind of storage for the rear when the back seat is up. If anyone knows of anything that works I would appreciate the info. Thanks
