New member / new quad

Hi all , coming in from Sask Canada here . New quad owner and new forum member . Anyways I’ve been lurking on here since I got my 570 about 2 months , lots and lots of great info on this site 4sure . This site helped me pick tires and fix some heat issues I was having . Thank you all .

Anyways I picked up a 2015 570 touring for myself and my 2 kids and wife . Kids are 2 & 5 , and gotta say they absolutely love going out with me on the sportsman . I have rode a few trikes and quads throughout the years but this is my first quad that I purchased , I’m a big Polaris fan from riding their sleds for the last 20 years , although currently I ride a Ski Doo renegade , I’m a fan of BRP as well but I went with the Sportsman over the Outlander simply because I much prefer the local Polaris dealership over the Can Am one .

So quick info here , I ride on mostly gravel roads , sled trails, cow trails , farm trails , ditches and a little bit of mud , though nothing to deep . I will be using it for hunting deer / moose / elk in the future , and will also be looking at getting a plow for the winter . (Really excited about plowing some snow haha)

I purchased the sled brand new from the local Polaris dealership and had excellent top notch service there . I had the quad in twice so far , once to fix a rattle I had which ended up being the gear shift shaft hitting a heat sheild . They fixed it no problem , also after I bought my tires , 2/4 tire beads let go the next morning so they also fixed this no problem and at the same time did the 20 hour service on the unit .

These forums are very packed with complaints about these 570’s but I gotta say mine has ran flawless so far , I have just over 20 hours and 270 miles on it so far and have rode it for just shy of 2 months . It’s never randomly shut off on me or given me any hassle so far at all . It’s got way more power then I thought it would , the motor has been excellent so far , I’ve had it up to 60 mph on the gravel and it seems very stable and safe . I’ve had it in mud about a foot deep and the factory tires got me out no problem , I’ve driven it through water up to the foot rests and never had any issues .

I purchased the KENDA HTR’s in factory size since it’s important to me to be able to fit in a 51" wide trailer . I had one complaint about the quad so far and that was the hot motor on right side , I wrapped the header and pipe with DEI wrap and that solved that

Anyways that’s about all I got right now , to recap 270 miles , no issues , only complaint was heat on right leg, fixed that with wrap .
I’m loving this quad so far and look forward to being a member of this site for years to come .

Sorry guys I also posted this in 570 forum as I didn’t see this new member forum until just now

I’ll try to post a few pics of my rig on here for you guys .
Cheers

What is this part?

I have a 2003 Sportsman 500 HO. The last time I ran it I noticed there was fuel draining from a plastic tube hanging down more or less under the gas tank. I shut it down and removed the bodywork to check. I didn’t find the tube hanging down but instead found this tubingAttachment 26096 assembly, unattached to anything, laying on the PVT cover on the left side of the engine area. I can’t find it in any of my manuals (Factory, Clymer’s and Haynes). There are two plastic tubes, about 3/16 inch diameter, the long one is about 12 inches long and the short one is about 1.25 inches long. Between is a filter?? that says VAC on one side. What is this thing and what do I attach it to? Thanks. TimFiish
