Cam chain tensioner

Got an ’06 500. Long story short…..I found out the cams had jumped a couple teeth, and the timing was off. Fixed the timing and it started right up. Then the noise started. Figured out it was the cam chain slapping. Pulled the tensioner….looked OK I think….put it back in accordingly. Started it up. No noise! WAIT! There it is again….. Pulled the tensioner again…. Reinstalled it again…. This time, I left my little screwdriver in the adjuster. Started it up, no noise….however, as it was running, I watched the screw driver back itself out, and the noise was back. I tried pushing the tensioner in on the bench, and it wouldn’t move, UNLESS I wiggled it around as iI was pushing on it.I’m guessing the vibration from the chain is causing it to do this while it’s in the motor? Does this mean my tensioner is bad? I’m REALLY tired of throwing money at this thing. I am however putting a new chain in it this weekend. Please help!
