Advise: Polaris VS. “Dream Machine”

I’d like to hear peoples advise on what they WANT. Even if it’s just their "Dream Machine". Think… Long term!

The thing is that I have been saving money since 2012 for my new "RZR".

With the prices now moving higher & HIGHER! I’m not pleased.

If I spend 21k on a RZR1k ( 23-28k for High lifter or Desert edition) I can say with absolute certainty that I NEED to add at least 5k right off the bat on stuff I consider "replace NOW" or add on items. Things like Harness/Seats, Cage, Skid plates, doors, (& I love nerf bars) & that doesn’t count suspension & Im sure I am missing a lot of other things like winch, mirrors ect..

Why I’m not pleased: Its been almost 3 years and when I left the XP was already ages ahead of my o8′. By now I honestly thought Polaris would have moved away from square tubular frames and went with actual tubing. I really had high hopes for better quality. Maybe I’m picky? Today I researched the suspension Kits from HCR racing. One giving the RZR1k that really nice 21" travel as well a REAL strength! I guess that falls in line with "Custom".

I would be buying an RZR just to do the same thing again. Start pulling apart at least 50% of the RZR and replacing it….

My plan was always to come down to the lower 48 (im in Alaska) & have the Vendors build me a RZR that was either an APEX or Z1. Although if I had an engine at 1200cc+ I would be happy with the engine being NA (I don’t need a Turbo, but if done right, okay).

I’m very close to paying someone like Marshall Motoart to craft me a UTV that I can be happy with for 10+ years, maybe much, much longer. The idea= Write up the entire build, Buy ALL the parts and work the labor/Material deal with whomever decides to build the dream machine and be done with it.

I use Marshall Motoart as an example. As I like their work.

Marshall Built this RZR "Rockcrawler" with trailing arms before the XP was ever even released. Beautiful Frame. Actually sold for under 15k

Their Latest.

So what do you guys think? Personally I want to buy a UTV that will last and I have no plans to "resell" my next purchase. I do NOT want "stock".

I’d like to hear some opinions. Marshall is not the only route, I am using them as an example. From a financial standpoint and/or even VS. a quality standpoint, what would you do. What do you recommend?
