I was having problems with voltage dropping on my Z1 when running fans, lights, etc. So far, this has REALLY helped. I see my battery voltage holding much higher than it was before I moved the regulator. The big test will be Memorial Day weekend riding.
Here is a picture to show where I mounted it. As you can see, I welded a 1" piece of steel to the bar with the VIN number on it. You will need to extend the wires on the regulator OR make a 6′ pigtail so it is easy to replace if necessary. I made a 6′ pigtail with 10 ga. wire for the 3 yellow wires with a male and female plug to match the regulator AC wires. I have a winch, so I have already ran 8 ga. wire from the battery to terminal block on the firewall. So, I just connected the 2 leads for DC power there. VERY easy to change out if the regulator fails later.
