Exhaust Wrap on Outlander 1000R

I might like to wrap both exhaust pipes on my Outlander 1000R in an effort to "pipe" the heat out the pipe instead of allowing it to radiate in between the side shields and out on me.

Have you done this, and if so where there any ramifications? I assume if it is effective in heat reduction, Can Am would have done it long ago.

What could go wrong? Maybe too much heat in the exhaust side of the head and burn the valves or warp the head. Maybe the exhaust headers will turn red hot and fail from overheat. Maybe the muffler and spark arrester wouldn’t like the heat. Maybe Can Am wanted the exhaust side of the engine in the "breeze" as the machine is being ridden forward.

Your advice and experiences welcome.
