Hey guys,
So I just got myself a 400 EX, and it seems to have some issues. When I shift, first and second work fine, but when I get to third it won’t go into gear. It will either grind in and out, or pop me into neutral. It sounds horrible. It will, however, go past third and into forth and fifth with no issue.
I was hoping that someone would give some insight on what is happening here. Also, if someone could give me directions to some instructions for taking the tranny apart, that would be helpful.
Hi everyone I am new here and I recently purchased a 2003 Sportsman 500 HO 4×4. I was wondering if is possible to swap instrument gauge (speedometer) out of a 04 or 05 sportsman and have all the functions of the newer gauge?
Help! I’m new to the forum and new to the hobby. My husband has ridden for years and is generally able to fix about anything. This one has him stumped.
I’ll try to keep this short. We bought a 2005 400ex with several aftermarket parts. Bored to 416. Rode about a week and noticed the starter clutch was going out. We ordered the part, and like an idiot we went ahead and took it on one more ride before changing the part.
We stalled out on the trail and when trying to re-start the oneway bearing flew apart and the starter burned up.
Towed home, opend it up and removed chunks of metal from crankcase. Replaced the starter clutch, stator, changed the oil, oil filter, and a new starter. Threw in a new sparkplug for good measure.
It won’t start. It cranks, and it popped one time… but was killing out the battery and we had to stop. We did try starter fluid before the battery gave up and nothing. This is also a new battery we put on before all this happend.
–PLEASE help. What else could be wrong?? Where do we go from here?

Good evening. New to the site. About to purchase a ’16 Grizzly EPS SE for $10,100 out the door. Thoughts on price?? New to atving so appreciate everyone’s opinion. Have driven snowmobiles for a long time but now have a need/want for a bike. Will eventually get a plow setup as I have a long driveway. I live in N.IL. Thanks in advance!
I really liked the looks of the 26 inch Kenda Bear Claw HTRs and the 12 inch STI HD6 machined wheels DugT put on his 2016 SE. So, I bought some just like his.
The 26 x 12 HTRs were out of stock at many vendors, but I called the folks at PureOffroad.com and they had the wheels and tires I wanted. However, not at the same location, so they would need to ship them separate if I wanted them right away. They discounted the price to cover the tire mounting. I place the ordered with PureOffroad on Monday, everything was waiting on my porch when I got this afternoon! 2 days, I can’t imagine better service. This is the first time I’ve ordered anything from PureOffroad, but it wont’ be the last.
It’s storming outside tonight, so my first test drive with the new tires and wheels will need to wait until tomorrow.
