What year trx450r should I buy?

Hello, I am looking to purchase my first honda bike. I have the choice between a stock 08, stock 06, or 04 with HTC kit (all trx450rs). All cost $2800. Which would you recommend? I’ve heard 06 and up has transmission problems, which I’m a little scared of. I will mostly be trail riding, and some casual racing with friends.

Honda Parts Support

Phoned Honda Parts 877-710-9700 and asked for part number for Honda Fourtrax Foreman Rubicon TRX500FA6 oil filter. They stated that they can not give out the part number over the phone.

Are they being hacked by illegal suppliers of oil filters? What reason would they have?

Sportsman 550 XP bang and turn off

Hi all,
this afternoon i was doing a tour with my Sportsman 550 XP while I started to hear a strange noise like a creaking/chirping.
At first i thought it was the belt and i went back but after some minutes i noticed that the quad bang when i release the accelerator and i struggle to engage the gears H/L/N/P. Stopping I noticed that the quad goes off if I left it in high gear and with brakes on.
Now the quad turns on, it remains for a few seconds accelerated and then he brutally turn off.
I can not understand what it it might be. Can you help me?
Sorry for my english

TRX300 Fourtrax 4×4 1995 rebuild and mods

while I got it apart to fix the steering shaft problem , might as well freshen her up , I am going to pull the front diff out , redo the seals on it and the transfer case out put , put a kit in the 4×2 kick out , front wheel bearings , seals and disc pads , redo the crank case vent tube , new modified front fender stays , tie the front and rear mud flaps into the floor boards and do away with the heel guards which are under the floorboards any way , maybe the extended swingarm and I started mounting the winch

XP 850 replacing frame support under seat

So this baby snapped on me. Bought a replacement and started to assess the job. The real pain looks like getting the shifter pulled through the hole on the support. How does a guy get to the screw on the back of the shifter. Also do I have to take all the back plastic off to get to the big allen bolts on the back? Tips tricks would be much appreciated.

Where it mounts to the rear. Hard to reach from between tire and under fender.

2014 Outlaw 90 Trans / Clutch Issue – Help Please

In my intro thread I mentioned having an issue with my Outlaw 90 and I’m looking for some help. I’ve ordered the service manual from the local dealer but that will take 1 1/2 to 2 weeks to get here. My grand kids are coming to visit in 3 weeks and I would like to have this running when they get here. So here goes;

First a little background info; After limited use the first summer (maybe 20 hrs) the quad was stored over winter. When I went to get it out of storage I found there was water in the transmission and it was frozen. Moved it into the shop and warmed it up. Drained the fluids and replaced with new AGL. During the kids next visit last year water got into the trans again and it started making bad sounds. I drained it again and put new fluid in it for winter storage. This thing only has a total of around 30 hours on it.

I determined the noise was coming from the clutch side and pulled the cover. Found the whole clutch assembly would wiggle. So I pulled the clutch assembly and found the input / output shaft appears to be broken and / or there is a bad bearing behind a seal on the outside of the transmission housing. Here is a pic of the shaft. I have a short video of it too that I could post if someone lets me know how to. This shaft wiggle up and down and when turned it makes a grinding noise like a badly shot bearing.

Anyone know if this shaft comes out on the clutch side of the housing or do I need to pull it from the transmission side?
