So i had a couple hours to spare today befor the Labour Day Classic….
I tore into my rear axle problem. Its been clicking like a bugger last couple months and getting worse.
Wondering if its worth my time to rebild this plung joint or if the tollerances are worn and i should just buy new high performance axles. Obvously ill have more peace of mind with new rhinos but id prefer not to go that route as its about 500 for axles on both sides where as a cv joint kit is a lot less. Dont wanna waste my time rebuilding if its just gonna fail again. What do you guys think? Fix or replace? Dunno why it failed in the first place. I dont see any evident scoring on the components but i havent run any measurements…wouldnt even know where to start for that.
I play in da mud..have a clutch kit installed and run my rear suspension on the highest setting for what thats worth….

There’s oil on the case down below the dip stick. It’s not coming from the dip stick tube. It kinda looks like it’s spinning of the prop when I grease it. Anyone else seen this?

I just swapped framed on my 660 and before I worked on it this thing ran great. Started it up, which was immediate, it started smoking a little and I thought it was just grease from the frame swap and would burn off so I drove it a min. It runs ok at low rpm but when I tried to go faster it was missing. When I stopped it smoked like crazy. I’m puzzled as to what happened bc it has been sitting for 8 months and I started it often. Only thing I did was lift it by manifold and I did torque the manifold a bit trying to get new starter in but if anything I would just have an exhaust leak from that. I not to keen on terms but I assume there is oil leak in head, so I assume I have to pull engine??
