I have an 07 sportsman 500 efi ho with 28" zillas. I have a problem today I got on it and rode for probably 10 minutes and went to give it some gas to go on down the road and at about 5000-6000 rpm it cut out and back fired so I came to a stop and it was idling rough and then just cut off. I Crunk it back up like nothing was wrong and drove probably 3 minutes up the road and it didn’t do it again until I left off the gas, I was at about 4000 rpm this time. I normally run 89 non ethanol but yesterday I wasn’t thinking and put reg 87 in it. So when I got it home (today) after all of this I put a bottle of seafoam in it, still no luck. I’ve also noticed it’s running about 3000-4000 rpm at 15-20 mph and it hasn’t ever rode that high. My clutch cover is also hot after this short ride. What could the problem be? All this started today. Any help would be appreciated and thanks

I’ve replaced my one way bearings for preventive maintenance purposes (bike has 6000kms and clutch got swamped a couple times).

Anyways I went with RBL bearings and that expensive white TOPAS grease and am now having a hard time shifting the bike and after only 50kms or so on the bike I get a strange sounds while idling in park.

Factory bearings are 60$ each (which I find expensive), so should I just go with those or is there a brand that everyone goes to and works well?

I have a 2013 850 stealth black it cranks and runs fine for a while then it will start spitting sputtering back firing and dies. Let it set a few minutes then it will crank and run a little then all over again. I checked the timing gear on crank shaft for spun gear and it is in place. It has 115 hours and 650 miles. Installed new plugs but still same issue. Any ideas or help???

I have a 2007 Sportsman 500 EFI and the dash is displaying "HOT" Check Engine after running the ATV for 15 minutes. The radiator fan is not coming on.

Here is what I have done so far and its pointing to a bad radiator fan.

1. Unplug the coolant temperature sensor and then turn the ignition key to the on position. The fan does not run at all and it should.

So, what are the next things to check to determine why the radiator fan is not coming on.

Hi all,
I charged my battery up to 12.8 volts and installed it. As soon as I turn the key on, the voltage across the battery drops to 4.8 volts and of course no start. When I boost it with my truck it fires right up and runs perfectly. I believe that the fact that it runs well eliminates the stator as a suspect. I’d sure appreciate any ideas that anyone might have. hey everyone…… im brand new to this forum, and first time trying a forum for help.. so i have a ’12 sportsman 500 that i bought brand new in 2013. it only has 195 miles on it due to many time consuming job related issues that keep me away from home. well i just had the wheeler in storage for a year with no gas and no oil for about a year. i did everything you would think necessary after being in storage. at first i couldn’t get it to start up without the choke being on. so i took the carb out cleaned everything, except removing the jets since this is the first time im ever getting this in depth with engine work, didnt know how easy it was to install them correctly. after i re-installed it i had a constant gas leak (easy fix of course. replaced the gasket for the float needle.) now the thing starts up great but idles at about 3000+ rpm. i try adjusting the throttle cable and that doesnt do anyting. ive tried adjusting the throttle adjustment on the carb and that hasnt done anything. the only thing that worked to bring down the idle is pulling the choke, after i do this it idles around 1150-1250 rpm. anyone have any suggestions. sorry for the long story just trying to give all the info i can. thanks for any help.
