First Time Atv Owner

Hey Folks,
First time quad owner. Have owned and ridden dirt bikes for many years but needed a utility quad to work a piece of dirt I own in the high desert of Southern California. Scored a good deal on a 2006 Grizzly 660 and am looking to rig it with a winch and tow hitch. Looking forward to learning from and contributing to this forum.

2011 TRX420 TPA recoil starter

I have a 2011 TRX420FPA. Does anyone know if there is a difference in the 08U78-HP5-100 Recoil starter kit and the 08U78-HP7-100 Recoil starter kit. I purchased one online, that was advertised and in a HP7 box but the instructions indicate it is a HP5 kit. Looking over the two kit’s instructions it does not appear that there is any difference in the parts. But the HP5 instructions are dated 10/06 and says it is for application on TRX420FE/FM/TE/TM models. Instructions for the HP7 kit are dated 11/08 and say it is for TRX420FE/FM/TE/TM and TRX420FPA/FPE/FPM models. The instructions are the same other than some additional steps to install it on the newer TRX420FPA. If anyone has any inside information concerning the above mentioned recoil starter kits, I would greatly appreciate your insight

Cst wild thang tires

One of the dealers in my area have a really good deal on 27 inch Wild Thang tires. From what I have read they are a similar to the Zilla. I can’t find much on the Internet about these tires. Does anyone have these tires or have any thoughts about them.

Thanks

Been a aurora wheelers forum lurker back in 06′, bought a BRP Outlander 800 in 06′, registered in 07′ on the forum. Was a regular for several yrs until I traded for a RZR in 2010 but stayed on until 2014. Just got back on recently cuz I am going back to CanAm. Back in the day I logged on twice a day just to keep up with all the posts. What happened? It is really slow here now. Just wondering, still love the forum!

850XP hard cold starting

Got a 2014 850 XP HO EPS…
Ran it last summer at MI. dunes…hot day in sand. Engine temp light came on and atv went into limp mode. I immedately stopped and turned off motor. After5-10 min. started right up, ran fine. This happened 4 times. No boil over, coolant level good, fan coming on, no radiator obstructions.
Machine starts and runs great after warm up…no smoking or oil use, and no engine trouble code ever showed up….

The problem is at cold engine start up, it won’t start unless you give it some throttle, then starts but won’t idle without some throttle for first minute, then starts, runs strong, idles good…after it warms up for a couple of minutes.
New spark plugs and clean filter and fresh gas did not help…
Anyone throw me a bone!!!

2013 foreman 500 electric start problems help please!

Hey guys, I have a 2013 Honda foreman 4×4 foot shift and was riding it this weekend when all of a sudden it started busting up and shutting off. I would crank it up and try to ride it and it would do the same thing, then the electric start button stopped working and I have been trying to find the problem for over a week now with no luck. All connections on the battery are good and tight. I can turn the key on and hear the fuel injection and everything start up but when I push the button nothing happens. Not even a click from the solenoid. But I can run a wire from the battery to the harness plug of the solenoid and it will activate and turn over but won’t crank because it’s not getting spark. The only thing I can think of is a bad switch cluster which I have ordered and will be in later this week but the light switch and high/low beam switch works. And I checke continuity on both the start button and the kill switch and both checked out…I’m lost
